Uncle Ray's quotes

Uncle Ray was telling me about a woman he knew that she was going out with a married man for 15 years!!! He said he would leave his wife and divorce her after those 15 years. Well the woman waited and waited for the married man to divorce his wife and he did divorce his wife after those 15 years. The only problem is that he was dating this mystery woman for 15 years while still being married to his wife but then when he left his wife, he married another woman that was not the mystery woman that he had been dating for 15 years!! so this woman waited for this guy for so long and when he finally divorced he married another woman!!! That was fucked up! ha ha ha my uncle ray says she got screwed royally ha ha ha ha ha I'd never heard that before ha ha ha ha ha that made my night ha ha ha ha he also said that was messed up of the guy and that the woman got the royal staff up her ass ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I swear this was hilarious!!!! he was saying other stuff but I only wrote those two down but when i remember what else he said, i'll post it ha ha ha ha oh goodness! LOL

Life in the restaurant business

Last night I finished work at about 11:45 pm which was amazing because normally work doesnt end until 1:00am. So why was work done so early? well we've been having extremely cold weather out here and really tough winds so last night when we were in middle of working dinner service our power went out and we were stuck in the kitchen trying to work in the dark. Our customers had to finish their meal by candle light which personally it's something i'd find a very interesting experience if it were me dining at a restaurant and the power suddenly when out... it would be a little fun because that would be a different experience. Anyway, so the power went out and my friend lit a couple of candles in the kitchen so we could finish working. shortly after, the pastry kitchen power came back on but the power in the savory food kitchen was still off. The clients eating at the Osteria and Pizzeria were both still in the dark and the only place that had power was the pastry kitchen so we were still working. I joked and said we were the only kitchen with power because we live the sweet life ha ha ha ha ha! So it's not the first time that i've worked at a restaurant where the power went out because of bad weather but every time that happens things get a little interesting... we tend to just joke around while we wait for the power to come out. It's fun but also very hard work too. Anyway so that was good that I got to leave early last night. I went to visit my uncle Ray at the hospital at about 12:30 pm. He's an urgent care doctor at the hollywood hospital and since it's very close to my job I go often so I went to visit him at work and we talked for 5 hours straight!!! now I got home and slept... woke up and have to be back at work LOL I feel like i was just there. Uncle Ray is hilarious!!! I almost felt like video taping him to show you guys why i enjoy visiting him so much... he cracks me up! and sure makes me feel better when I am down. ok next post!

Not sure if i told you guys this but i LOVE NKOTB & BSB!! I grew up listening to NKOTB!! Jordan Knight's my favourite New Kid. When they broke up i was heartbroken for years until BSB came along. My favourite BSB is Kevin but he left :(

LOL my friend's boyfriend drew it and I think he did GREAT! i think i might have to tweak it a little here and there but this is basically the tattoo i will be getting. It's a crepe chasing a churro!! LOL what do you think?

cute science project

My friend's daughter was assigned a project in her science class which was basically to make a cell out of anything that is edible. I thought that was a cool project because remember in my school when I was 13, I had a project like that but I made my cell out of clay some people made theirs out of fruit. My friend's daughter made hers out of cake and candy. I thought it was the cutest thing ever LOL so obviously the long rectangular cookies around the border is the cell wall... the sprinkles are the ribosomes, then you've got the chloroplasts and mitochondria and so forth... they were graded on how it looks and how it tastes... she got an "A". aaaah the good time!

grasshopper snacks

One of my aunts went to Oaxaca, Mexico for the first time... she found it rather interesting that she got to stay with the locals there and they taught her how to catch grasshoppers to eat!! she said they taste like shrimp... I was willing to try them until she told me what they taste like. LOL... anyway, she brought some back to the states and I had to take a picture of them. You cant really make them out but they are a bunch of cooked grasshoppers. OH! and interesting note, in Oaxaca, they kill the grasshoppers like they kill lobsters... throw them in boiling water OUCH!!! ok.

Random kid in the kitchen!!

ok so last night as I was working my butt off at work, a server walks in with this 10 year old kid and says hey guys!!! we have a foodie here! (referring to the 10 yr old kid) The server introduces the kid to us (kitchen staff) and the kid starts saying... This is my favorite restaurant. I love the food here and it's also my favorite restaurant for italian food! Also, I've been to italy... we all couldnt help but find it hilarious that this kid dressed in a suit was escorted into the kitchen of the restaurant because he is such a foodie and he said he'd been to italy in the most snobbish way ever!! ha ha ha ha we all thought it was cute and hilarious at the same time... Well my hectic night ended with me and the rest of my pastry kitchen staff have us a beer to end a hectic night.
that's what's great about working in a restaurant... if you have a cool boss or if ur the boss urself... you can have urself a couple of beers or a glass of wine at the end of the night or sometimes during downtime on ur shift. aaaahhhh the joy of kitchen work!! LOL anyway that was the story of the little random kid in the kitchen LOL

We get A LOT of lakers managers and team members... every night we have VIPs dine there... it's pretty cool.... I guess but also a lot of the VIPs i dont even know who they are... LOL Anyway here is Danny Devito's birthday cake that I took a picture of with all of you guys in mind!

What does your favorite color say about you?

OMG this is sooooo right!!!!Ok so I was reading an article that basically tells you what kind of person you MIGHT BE depending on what color is you favorite color. Mine happens to be red. I LOVE RED!!! I dont know why but I just love the color red, my car red, my ipod's red, my coffee mug is red, my bookshelf is also red I just love it and guess what? it had a description on the personality of the people that like red and it described me perfectly!!!! check it out!!
Red
What it represents: Ah, the color of passion, anger and high blood pressure. Red is a primal color. It represents primal urges, like lust (“I must have you now!”) and fury (you know the phrase “seeing red,” right?). Yes, red is a commanding color: think of how stop signs get you to halt in your tracks and how you stand back when a red fire engine goes whizzing by.

Understanding people who love it: They act — sometimes without thinking — on immediate desires. In fact, they’re usually the poster children for immediate gratification. It’s up to you if you go for it... or proceed with caution.

ok so there are more colors that they discuss... click on read more and check out what your favorite color says about you. Let me know what your favorite color is and why... ok enjoy!!Orange
What it represents: OK, orange is not exactly the easiest color to wear and it’s not the most common favorite color, but guess what? Orange is as sensual as it gets. Orange is a mellowed red — and it takes primal, lusty urges and mellows them with a softer vibe. Orange is the color of early attractions, emotional responses, and inner magnetism. Oh, and one other thing: orange is also close to gold, the color of success and wealth.

Understanding people who love it: Someone who likes orange is alive with feelings, the ability to nurture, and can intuit a path to success. If your favorite color is orange, you don’t have an “off” switch when it comes to passion. This is all good stuff, but there’s nothing casual about the connections this kind of person usually forges.

Yellow
What it represents: Yellow is the color of the sun, vitality, power and ego... but it’s not a great indicator of romance. Watch out for self-centered, “me first” energy when someone prefers yellow to the rest of the rainbow.

Understanding people who love it: If yellow is your favorite color, temper your use of the word “I” when you’re interested in someone else. You can come across as too ego-centric otherwise. Now, if you’re dating someone whose favorite hue is yellow, make sure to jump in and share stories about yourself, since this person may not give you much room.

Green
What it represents: Here is the heart of the matter: green is the color of love. (It’s no coincidence that we make our money in the same color...) Green is the color of life and abundance — leaves, grass, plants — it’s all about growing, expanding, and living. So why don’t we give ferns instead of roses on Valentine’s Day? Because green is about expansive, humanistic love and acceptance, not bodice-ripping romance. What’s more, green is a nice-person color, a “do-gooder, be-gooder” kind of color. This person has a warm heart. Passion is probably in there somewhere, buried under their integrity and honor.

Understanding people who love it: If you love green, you put the greater good before your own good — but try a little selfish behavior once in a while.

Blue
What it represents: Blue is a color of clarity, communications and charm. And regardless of the shade, this hue says: “I like to be understood.” On the downside, under stress, a “blue” person can send mixed messages, have trouble making up their mind, or just space out during conversations.

Understanding people who love it: If blue is your favorite color, you never run out of anything to say — expression is your strong suit. And if you’re dating a “blue” person? The same holds true; you should always know where you stand.

Purple
What it represents: Purple evokes the energy of illusion, imagination and fantasy. Or should we say purrrrple? Purple tends to inspire coyness, romance, flirtation and teasing — it builds anticipation with a dash of playfulness. The downside of purple is unrealistic expectations. Is it easier to live in your fantasy world than the real world? Some purple-lovers prefer it. Understanding people who love it: If you love purple, you can be an imaginative romantic or prefer imaginary romance, depending on how you feel.

White
What it represents: White is light — the combination of all colors. White symbolizes purity (the traditional bridal dress, the christening gown) and spirituality. There’s a simplicity to it, too.

Understanding people who love it: People who love white are probably clean and orderly. While white isn’t the sexiest color, it is certainly healthy.

Black
What it represents: Like white, black is a combination of all colors, but instead of purity, it represents the unknown, the unseen — mystery. Black basically holds back information... but there’s no denying that it has strong associations in our culture with “the dark side” and evil.

Understanding people who love it: If your favorite color is black, you are more hush-hush than high-strung in nature. The silence of this color lets others fill in the blanks. Black says, “I’m not telling you anything.” People who love black can be tough nuts to crack, but quite possibly worth the effort.

My tattoo ideas!

Ok so I am planning on getting a couple of tattoos pretty soon. What kind of tattoos? well food tattoos of course!!!
Because I am in the culinary industry, specifically baking/pastry I've decided to get a tattoo of a cupcake with a cherry on top wearing a king's crown and a whisk and spatula as crossbones. what do you think? I wanna get that one on my left arm... on the back of my left arm. Another tattoo i am getting is of a cartoon looking churro chasing a cartoon looking crepe. this is inspired by the churro adventure that I had in mexico with my dad while we were hunting for churros for a week!!! I was craving those delicious mexican treats and we were all over mexico searching for them and finally found some in a little stand that also sold crepes so I ate lots of both. It's kind of a fun memory I have of my dad and I so I'd like to have that tattooed on me. Although my dad wouldnt like it cuz he didnt like people getting tattoos LOL. A final tattoo would be a knife with a strawberry at the tip of the knife. why? because I used to eat strawberries off the tip of my knife at my old job and people that that was insane but actually it was a quick and easy way to eat strawberries without letting go of my knife. I got into feeding ppl strawberries with my knife. LOL
that will possibly be on my forearm so what do you think? i will post the sketches as soon as I get them... then it's up to my little bro to do the tattooing. His tattoo gun broke though so I might have to wait a little or go somewhere and actually pay to get them done but whatever as long as they come out good. So with this being said... what is ur opinion on tattoos?

I love Pan Dulce!!!

For those of you who aren't familiar with mexican bread we have what we call "pan dulce"... sweet bread. NO not the french sweet breads that are not even bread but thymus, pancreas or heart of calfs; I mean bread that is sweet from mexico. I tell ya, I love this stuff even thought it probably isnt the healthiest thing but once in a while wont kill ya. My mom and I went out to buy some and here's what we found... Sorry some of the pictures are sideways I couldnt edit them to rotate them the right way.

BIG BREAKFAST!!!

My friend and I went out to have breakfast while I was sick and I couldnt eat my food to easily because just at the site and thought of food I wanted to throw up but for some reason, my yogurt and fruit breakfast wasnt so harsh on my stomach. I usually skip breakfast but this was sooo good. It felt fresh. We went out for breakfast and my fruit n yogurt came with a big bowl of oatmeal, milk, brown sugar, and an english muffin. to me that was a freakin huge breakfast I only ate the fruit and yogurt. there was no way i would finish the oatmeal, milk, english muffin, and coffee all in one sitting. NOT MY STYLE LOL. Anyway it was lovely. )

I love snuggies!!!

My mom bought me these boots. they are slippers but look like those hideous uggs. LOL but I love them so much cuz they're warm. By the way I want to apologize for not posting lately. I've been sick with the flu and have been throwing up and not even eating so that's strange LOL. Anyway I am a lot better now so I went out to eat with cousin Steve and his boyfriend Danny. I had me a blast those two are pure comedy together. LOL! ok so Back to my snuggies. I call them snuggies I dont know what they're actually called but check them out. you can fold the top to make them slippers or pull the top up to make them like boots!! i cant seem to do without them ha ha ha ha especially when I am sick..

The body of St Demetrios movedto the center of the temple
and the Christians have the change to be close to him.
Ofcourse all the year people come here for every corner of the earth
to be close to st Demetrios and ask something from him.

The wondrous thing is that people come here and not only Christians

Many of them leaves notes with the request,
and St.Demetrios never let them leave with broken heart

HAPPY DIA DE LOS MUERTOS!!!!!!

Today, November 1st is officially the first day of Dia De Los Muertos.. Day Of The Dead. This celebration lasts two days. Novermber 1st honors the short lives of children that have passed away, November 2nd honors the lives of all of the adults that have left us behind. Today even though I am a little sick, I want to attempt to go to Olivera Street in east los angeles to see the celebration of El Dia de los Muertos. Traditionally where my dad is from... or should I say WAS from... screw it!! even though he's physically not here I know he's with me in spirit so where my dad IS from, it is customary to make bread and offer it to ur dead loved ones by making a what is kind of like an alter but not really. My dad didnt like eating too much bread so I think I'll make offer him some MENUDO!! he loved that stuff and would eat menudo every Sunday. Usually on this day, The family of loved ones who have passed away celebrate the lives of their dead by eating their loved ones favorite food at their grave site. I am really not at all a fan of eating at a cemetery and even if I was, my father's grave is in Mexico. That's where he wanted to be buried and I am sure as hell not flying way over there taking two planes to two airports a 2 hour long taxi drive and another 2 hours to actually get to his grave. Besides, It's not that I dont want to I just cant and I know my dad is with me. Anyway so I will be buying him some menudo tomorrow. today though, we honor the lives of children that never made it to adulthood. FORTUNATELY I know of no such case so that's a relief.
