My new job friends!

Last Friday I went out to drink with my new work friends and we had EXCELLENT beer from City Tavern in Culver City where an old co worker of mine is now manager at. WUTS UP JEREMY!!!! Anyway we had a lot of tastings of beer and decided to put them in alphabetical order by name of the beer and made a question mark out of all the booze!! LOVED IT! LOL

my day off but not really

I was off today but not really because I had to work at my second job but I didnt go because I went to check out a 3rd job in Beverly Hills and while I waited for my friend to give me the address of the new job, I took me a walk but decided to park in a residential street so I could take a walk and not have to do meter parking... I enjoyed the really nice view of the sky and palm trees... and a random very pretty flower.

food truck heaven!

If you didnt know, Los Angeles is birthplace to food trucks started by us MEXICANS!!!! the food truck business is HUGE out here and now you can enjoy cuisine from all over the planet through these food trucks. during the lunch run, they are usually across from LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and they line up all along the curb and watch hungry los angelenos shop around for the perfect lunch time meal!! anyway so you can catch the magnificent view of at least one dozen food trucks lined up on wilshire across from LACMA from noon to about 2pm soooo great! anyway yesterday I was trying to decide what I should eat and decided to go for a falafel salad from kabab express food truck... basically a mix of Mexican and mediterranean food. I got the falafel salad and enjoyed the hell out of it. It was really really good! very fresh, crispy because of the romaine lettuce and cucumbers. Complete with a warm peta and some yogurt sauce(raita i think) on the side, I was one happy camper!!
If u live in the west los angeles area like me (west L.A., Marina del Rey, Venice) and desire some food truck craze, hit up the Food Truck Central across from sony pictures studios in downtown culver city on washington and overland. there was a food truck called Slap Yo Mama!!! ha ha ha ha ha hilarious!!! I've never been to this food truck stop before because I am usually always in Hollywood which is a 15 to 20 minute drive from culver city but i will check it out some time.

my delicious food!

I just realized that I have an incredibly healthy appetite!! not a bad thing at all. here are some pictures of what I have been eating a lot of lately. My favorite foods!!! The first picture is a chickpea and dandelion salad From M de Chaya which is where I used to work MAKING THIS SALAD LOL! The second picture is a salad from my current job that my buddy Sean made for me and it's basically a green bean salad with a whole mustard dressing... you can see the mustard seeds in it. that's great! The third picture is by far my favorite salad of all and it's the quinoa salad that I used to make at M De Chaya. It's a quinoa salad cooked with beet juice so that it looks like red quinoa. then seasoned with pickle juice and something else but i forgot. LOL anyway it has bits of beets and cucumber with some lemon zest and dill. MY FAVORITE!!!
Next up is my second favorite salad...well... I think its a tie between the quinoa and this one. this is a kale salad with spicey peanut sauce. garnished with red onion. DELICIOUS!! ok so that's my favorite foods hands down!!

Coffee addiction!!

My mom has me hooked on this coffee by nestle called "cafe de olla" spanish for coffee from the pot. You see, in Mexico we make what we call "cafe de olla" because it is brewed in a pot with a bit of cinnamon and a couple other spices. It's aroma is soooo AMAZING trust me, if you have access to nestle's cafe de olla coffee, you must try it!! It's the closest thing to real authentic Mexican coffee. The smell of a medium roasted coffee with comforting cinnamon, the sweet smell of that tiny hint of vanilla... ahhhh I am transported right back to Mexico!!! Wake up in the morning to the sound of the water splashing on the rocks in the river right outside my bedroom window; the smell of this delicious organic freshly picked, roasted and ground Mexican coffee seeping in through the bottom of my bedroom door making it's way to my bed flowing so smoothly under my nose. AHHHH!!! Every morning this smell is what woke me up and dragged me out of bed and every night it was this same smell that sent me to shower, put on my most comfy pajamas had me a cup of coffee with my dad (R.I.P. LOVE U PAPA), my two awesome aunts and my grandparents, and then sent me off to bed. AAHHH, it is this smell that reminds me of the nights of conversation in Mexico with my family... previously mentioned.. again and again and again,... night after night, conversations, laughs coffee, and the sound of a river flowing calmly next to the house. The fire flies!! I finally saw real fire flies!!! I am from the city... LOS ANGELES to be exact so there is no way in hell I'll ever see a fire fly out here but in mexico there are plenty flying over that river!! sooo beautiful. Anyway that's what this coffee reminds me of... It's delicious!!! Anyway back to my point. my point is that my mom was introduced to this nestle coffee by her sister who found this instant version in mexico then she came back to L.A. and found it out here too!!! now my mom introduced it to me and I am totally addicted to it!! I had 4 cups in 1 day! that's a lot of coffee! lol! The taste is sooo similar to the one you make from scratch in mexico it just sends me back... anyway you must try it if you can find it in a supermarket near you or hell, do what I do with stuff I cant find in stores... ORDER ONLINE! LOL that's exactly what I will do when huitlacoche season comes around (huitlacoche is the Mexican truffle) since it is not legal to sell it fresh in the states, I will buy it frozen online. pricey but well worth ur buck!

Really stupid people.

Last night, one of the most patient and awesome servers we have at my job, came in to the pastry kitchen with a little slip that was a note for one of the tables he was serving that night. what was that note? well... that note was a freaking LIST yes you read it correctly an entire LIST of all the things that this woman at the table was "allergic" to. OK stop reading and take a look at the picture now... go ahead, read the list... Ok now that you've read it, isnt that awful??? so out of curiosity, I waited until the lady finished eating to ask the server what she ordered... He said, did you see the list? I said yes that's insane! he said I know that's bullsh!t. I asked again, so what did she order. he said everything! I said no what did she eat? he said everything!! frustrated, and thinking that he didnt understand my question, I asked again, what was she able to eat? again he said EVERYTHING! everything on the list!! shocked, I said WHAT??? He said yeah, she ordered food that contained everything on her list, ate it, and she didnt die. I laughed in disbelief! UGH I hate those people! He said in frustration. I said well, look on the bright side, it makes life interesting. If everything was perfect night after night, then work would be kind of boring. LOL!! So anyway, that was the stupid people that I mean when I say I am tired of people with their fake allergies... Oh yeah, later on, the same waiter comes in and says hey, I have this lady that's allergic to strawberries and cranberries, I know the black berry compote doesnt have strawberries or cranberries, but I just want to make sure... I dont wanna kill anyone. Ha ha ha ha ha!! I thought that was hilarious because the level of sarcasm was pretty intense. LOL. No, I confirmed. Ok heh heh, thanx he said, and walked back to the table to inform the lady. it was certainly an awful night for me as well. SUPER slow, just eh... not feeling it. OK so that was my restaurant rant for today... I think! lol! Oh I did research and found that only 1 percent of adults and 3 percent of children actually are proven to have food allergies. the rest of people are just having reactions to food which is different from food allergies. read this:http://hubpages.com/hub/Food-Allergy
