Grammy weekend

alright sorry about not posting. I didnt get to go to the pastry place because my nephew came over and wanted help with his homework which took all day because he wouldnt sit still and do it. I'll go on tuesday for sure.

Anyway today was crazy busy at the restaurant given that today the Grammy's were held and ppl stop by before the grammys and after the grammys. my desserts were flying off the shelves like crazy and I tried to keep up with the demand... I succeeded!! anyway if you didnt watch the grammys, there was a tribute to michael jackson and apperently his kids accepted his lifetime acheivement award for him. I didnt watch the grammys as i am usually not into this kind of stuff but i did find a little bit of the tribute on youtube. Enjoy!!

A Little Inspiration Goes A Long Way

Alrighty it's my day off today and I am headed to Paris Pastry in Westwood for a little inspiration. I wont type too much cuz I cut my finger at work and it's painful to type LOL!! Ok well I'll be on my way and will be back with pictures as well. AH I gotta love L.A. we've got it all! LOL!!! Ok I am off to Paris Pastry!! Be Right Back!!

New Menu!!

Alright guys it's that time again!!! yes I am changing my dessert menu again!! need a little inspiration from you guys. My spring menu will be out in mid february or so. Anyone have anything they might want to suggest? thanx for ur suggestions and thanx for coming!!

SoHo on a pasta mission

It was my day off today and outta the blue I get a txt from my boss saying he'll pay me a little extra money if I find him bucatini pasta. Bucatini pasta?? ok, I take care I replied. I didnt even know what pasta that was so first thing I did was type it in online on yahoo images and I see it. WONDERFUL I thought!! so I jumped outta bed into the shower throw on some sporty looking clothes, hop in my car and off I go to find this pasta!!! As i drive...




I think... well ok first place I know might have it is... SORRENTO ITALIAN MARKET!!!!!! ok so off to Sorrento in culver city I go.... fifteen minutes later I arrive at sorrento but guess what? IT WAS CLOSED!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr.... ok think Mayra think!... Oh!!!!! I know!!! Cost Plus World Market!!! they have imported pasta!!!


so I go to westwood to find this pasta and guess what? Cost Plus World Market doesnt have it!!!!! I was tempted to buy some chocolate and furniture while I was there but I went for the pasta and it wasnt there so I had to get going before time ran out... I cant let my boss down I thought. I txt him asking if finding it online counts to which he txts back with "I need it by tomorrow you smart ass LOL"
"LOL ok it was worth a shot to ask. LOL Ok i'll find it no worries" I txt back.

at this point I am starting to run outta places to look for this pasta... then I think.... MAYBE trader joe's might have it... i doubted it but worth a shot... so I go to the palms trader joe's and just as i expected, they didnt have it either... ok so now what?? hmmmmm.... I need this damn pasta by tomorrow that was a last minute request for a party of 50 ppl.... what now?...




OMG SURFAS!!!!!!!!!! they have plenty pasta and there's a pretty good chance they might carry it!! if not I'll hit up ralphs but let's look at Surfas first... so I go back to culver city and head straight to the pasta section... I see all the wonderful looking pasta and start scanning the shelves carefully up close... nothing yet... so I lose my patience and step back to see all the pastas and there it was on a lower shelf wrapped in a brown paper package in all it's dusty golden glory bucatini the package read!!! I gasped!!! "SCORE!!!! YOU OWE ME EXTRA PAY ON MY NEXT CHECK!! I FOUND UR PASTA!!!"

SO I buy five packs of pasta each a pound and 1 and a half ounces and I took them to the cashier... "$32.15"

I grab my change and receipt in the bag and head back to the prius!! I go to the post office to take care of some business first then to the bank and finally I deliver the pasta to my boss at the restaurant. I drove around in the rain but at least I wasnt bored at home. LOL!!

I sit at the black grand piano while I wait for my money that I spent on the pasta...
two minutes later my boss's boss comes with my money.. thank you Mayra. No problem sir.
So I chat for a while with my boss and we check out the pasta
"ok where's my extra pay?"
"Hey Diro!! look! I have proof that I did give her extra pay look at the pay stub... see. ur witness" we all laugh...


I chat a little while with my boss and with the rest of the guys and then say my goodbyes and off I go back home. I did stop at ralphs anyway. I was gonna buy some lemon poppyseed scones but they didnt offer that item anymore. this broke my heart so I bought bite size blueberry muffins and a pack of sandwich thins for my boss that he wanted to try... he said he's pay me back but it's only three bucks so it's on me...


I keep telling Olivier that he has beady eyes so I wanted to take a picture of them cuz he's always saying that he has small eyes but not beady and I tell him that eyes can be small and beady at the same time so I tried to take a picture of them as he sipped on his tea from a take out soup cup, but he shut his eyes so I wouldnt take the picture LOL!!! YOU SUCK DUDE!!! I'll get you when you least expect it!! ha ha ha ha ha!!

really bored

Hi everybody!! sorry i havent posted lately... I've just run out of things to post about. LOL today was a rainy day... I took a couple pictures of the rain on my windshield as I was driving.... yeah dont try that at home. that's dangerous and I shouldn't be doing that LOL!! ok enjoy!!

Ok so thanx to Hanan, apparently Wenty is now gonna start a twitter page. Mr.Wentworth Miller is planning on posting a video of himself to assure us that it's really him on twitter. Apparently Miller said that he knows he's said before that he doesnt have an online account but that twitter will be his only account and he will confirm his online existance by posting a video of himself shortly confirming it's really Wentworth Miller. I checked out the site and I think it's just some crazy nutcase who wishes he was Wenty. LOL I mean seriously this guy must have some mental issues. Anyway, that's just my opinion. ok so we've had a rainy week but today is absolutely beautiful!!! its cold outside and slightly windy but the sky is clear and the sun is out!! I am enjoying this weather today. I finished work early so now I am here with you guys. LOL yes. LOL!!

wiener mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was walking to my car at work and I noticed parked outside the parking structure were four WIENER MOBILES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have any idea how badly i been wanting to see the oscar mayer wiener mobile in person????????? well they are doing an even at the grove today and I cant go cuz it's raining and i dont have my car with me!!! my sister has it. anyway i took some pictures of the cool looking wiener car so show you all. enjoy!! I would LOVE to cruise down the streets of L.A. in one of these. LOL!!! everybody out here cares too much about expensive/luxury cars. I would love to cuise in one of the wiener mobiles. LOL!!

I love snapping pictures so I was in the dry storage room at the restaurant a few days ago and I like standing in there because it's been very cold lately and in this dry storage room its so warm you can fall asleep in there. so there is this light bulb that reminds me of a recording microphone but it's bright. I loved how it looked. so warm. I had my trusty camera phone which i love cuz it takes really great pictures so i took a picture next to it LOL!! oh btw i'll have pictures of the wiener mobile!!!

Rainy Day

This week so far has been a pretty wet week here in L.A. the strange thing about it, is that here, during early winter we usually have warm or even a bit hot weather so we go to the beach or do outdoor stuff but lately it's been raining and I do have to admit that's refreshing. So I dont work today YAY!!! that means I am here on the blog with YOU!!! I would like to change the look of the blog so I am gonna start working on that. I'll be putting together more posts for your enjoyment... and well... I'll also be chatting with you all at the Cbox down at the bottom of the page. so anyway what do you guys do during a rainy or snow day when you cant leave ur house because of the cold weather?
I took some pictures outside of the rain but I emailed them to myself so i can post them here but I have not received them yet so i posted the one above i found online.

Tequila Lime Shrimp!!!

This adaptation of the classic Mexican fajita dish is loaded with succulent shrimp and scallops, which are beautifully sauteed after marinating in a tasty mixture of lime juice, cilantro, tequila, garlic, pepper sauce, oregano, and cumin. Add sauteed wedges of onion, strips of red sweet peppers, and sliced mushrooms for a dish bursting with flavor.

ingredients

* 1 pound fresh or frozen medium shrimp in shells
* 8 ounces fresh or frozen sea scallops
* 1/4 cup lime juice
* 1/4 cup snipped cilantro
* 2 tablespoons cooking oil
* 2 tablespoons tequila
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 to 2 teaspoons bottled hot pepper sauce
* 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
* 1/2 teaspoon pepper
* 1 large onion, cut into thin wedges
* 1 large green sweet pepper, cut into bite-size strips
* 1 large red sweet pepper, cut into bite-size strips
* 1-1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
* 6 9- to 10-inch warmed flour tortillas
* 6 ounces shredded Monterey Jack cheese or Chihuahua cheese (1-1/2 cups)
* Lime wedges
# Thaw shrimp and scallops, if frozen. Peel and devein shrimp. Rinse shrimp and scallops. Cut scallops in half; set aside. In a mixing bowl stir together lime juice, cilantro, 1 tablespoon of the oil, tequila, garlic, pepper sauce, oregano, cumin, and pepper. Add shrimp and scallops.
# Cover; chill 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, in a large skillet cook onion and peppers over medium-high heat in remaining oil for 2 minutes. Add mushrooms. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Add shrimp mixture to skillet; bring to boiling. Cook and stir for 3 minutes or until shrimp are pink and scallops are opaque. Using a slotted spoon, fill each tortilla with about 3/4 cup shrimp mixture. Top with cheese. Roll. Spoon a small amount of remaining shrimp mixture with some of the juices over rolls. Makes 6 servings.

I just want to congratulate Greti from Slovania on the birth of her beautiful baby girl Hannah Pia. I had not kept in contact for a few months and now the baby is a little over four months old. She's absolutely beautiful!!! congratulations!!!

San Diego Animal Park!!

hey there!! ok so remember I told you that i love thursdays because I get thursdays off? well this past thursday I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park with my boss (yes we're everywhere together almost like the bobbsey twins LOL but it's cool because since i work to much to have friends to hang out with, now i just hang out with my boss so at least i hang out. LOL and I am lucky because not many ppl like their boss so I am lucky to have a great boss who I can joke around with). yes dont be jealous LOL JK> Anyway we initially were going to go wine tasting but since he's as spontaneous as I am, we saw San Diego Wild Animal Park on the map and we went there first. We spent all day there. It was supposed to be a quick stop but we took all day and didn't get to go wine tasting. Instead we headed to the countryside afterwards. We went to Julian which is this small country town with a lot of great pie shops. This town is famous for their apples So we made a stop at the very famous "MoM's" to have us some apple pie. By george do they have some wonderful very light and tasty pie!! If you've seen the show with Huel Howser, MoM's was featured on there and my boss and I just had to go. So we hopped in my prius and took the long drive down to San Diego and Julian. I ha so much fun. so if ur ever in San Diego, definitely hit up "Mom's" in julian. they have delicious fresh baked pies. Ok enough yapping and on with the pictures. Enjoy!!
