This story comes to us via another new source in China. Basically the bulk of the info is the same, mentioning that Wentworth arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on the 16th to begin shooting a commercial for GM. On the afternoon of the 17th, journalists had the honor of going to the secret filming to check out the filming session. Wentworth did a few media interviews, revealing this is a low profile trip. The ads should start running next month. I was unclear about the next statement which mentions the ad campaign & Wentworth going to China three times. I'm guessing that means filming, but again, I'm not sure.
During a break from shooting the ad, a reporter heard "top-secret" advertisement information (sounds like some government intel LOL) from the Shanghai GM Chevrolet brand director. The article goes on to mention that it is important to be able to reflect on the Cruze's good handling & power and Wentworth has proven once again that he has the ability to perform well - obviously he did a great job and "performed" to the expectations! Well, dur, what did they expect LOL! I'm unclear on the rest but it says something about working hard & intelligence... Oh, almost forgot - there's something big going down in "mid-April"! Supposedly something "shocking" and we should be excited to see it when it happens!
Ok, next the article goes on talking about how Wentworth is absolutely worthy of being paid to do this ad campaign. It mentions a figure of above five million yuan (about $730,000 USD) & says this is the "current high price" for a "hot Hollywood star". Something about there being no special requirements for the job. Wentworth was highly evaluated & what you see on the screen (I'm guessing his work on PB & other stuff) is exactly the same thing they got from him & is obviously who is really is: self-cultivation, smart, generous, handsome, easy-going, etc. It mentions that the director pointed out that Went "is a mind of its own people", has decent conversation, has extensive knowledge & is a very excellent person! His only request of them was that they take him to eat xiao long bao! I think the next thing said that he's so easy to work with that you don't really recognize him as a big Hollywood actor - I could be completely wrong on that but it sounds like Went =)
Wentworth is highly popular because of "Prison Break". His popularity is worldwide, with international influence in Asia, especially China, Japan and South Korea. Most of his fans there are in the younger age groups & this is the target market for the Chevy Cruze. GM feels they chose well when selecting Wentworth because of his intelligence & capability. They feel his "image" is very much in line with what they want; he's well worth it!
I'm not quite sure what this next section was talking about LOL but it mentions safety concerns of "Prison break" because of the many tough gun battles, explosions, and other dangers. It mentions that there is a great team backing the show & if there wasn't it wouldn't be such an outstanding drama series. After shooting PB, Went says he plans to travel & will definitely not drive too fast and will obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents. Then it goes on to say something about his height & people in the back seat being comfortable behind him - I guess because he's tall...
The article talks about how Wentworth said the Chinese cherish each opportunity and how he couldn't refuse when asked to do this ad campaign. He said this is a very good experience. "As an actor, you have to do more than just to develop our domestic market. We have to consider at our overseas markets, fans. Shaping the international image is very important. Because of "Prison break", I was able to enter the international market. Shanghai GM and I have a good business relationship. I can have the opportunity to travel to different places, and meet my fans, to do some product endorsements. I am very honored and proud to have these opportunities, and this also gives me more opportunity to select from different scripts which is what I want, not to be confined."
