Earlier we posted that Entertainment Weekly spilled the beans about our beloved Prison Break being canceled... still true, unfortunately, however, I've read different stories about this "issue". Let me explain.
1. The story by EW (the one we posted earlier) says that FOX Entertainment president Kevin Reilly had this to say about the cancellation of PB: "We've got our remaining batch of four episodes and then there are a couple more we're contemplating... The show is played out."
2. The above story links to another posted on the Hollywood Insider blog. It reports that Producer Matt Olmstead said he ''didn't want the show to become a parody of itself.'' He also said: "[There's] nowhere to go beyond this season." The story goes on to report that there are six remaining episodes (not four) with the finale coming in May.
Now, remember that Fox ordered two additional hours earlier this year? Well, according to the Hollywood Insider, Olmstead has filmed a couple of extra segments that he says ''address a couple of other storylines [and] can play as a standalone [movie].'' And get this: "Prison Break might get a stay of execution under somewhat different circumstances." I think this actually has to do with the women's prison spinoff.
3. Lastly we have this story posted by TVGuide. It reports that Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly said (during the TCA Winter Press Tour) that "this will be the last year" of Prison Break. He said that the show's run is one for the "win column". He furthers that comment with "it got to a point where a lot of the stories had been told."
The story goes on to say that there are at least six more hours beginning Friday, April 17, possibly eight. Says Reilly, "We want to finish strong."
So there you have it... Prison Break says "Bye Bye" after its fourth season on FOX =( but as it turns out, there will be 6, & more than likely 8, more hours for us fans to enjoy!
