The chef doctor??

I was thinking... well with this Prison Break hiatus I have more time to think about other things... for example a career change... if you havent read my profile... yes I do work in the culinary field. Wut was I doing before? Well I was studying to be a doctor!!! a trauma surgeon to be exact. why i changed my mind? I've always loved cooking and the chefs coat intrigued me LOL so I quit my med studies and enrolled in culinary school... after graduating from culinary school and being in the industry for a good while... I have decided to finish my med studies and become that trauma surgeon I have wanted to be since I was 6!!! This month I'll be heading to UCLA's extention program since it's been 5 years since i left my med studies and will return to my student self again!! YAY!!!!!!!!! I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED BEING A STUDENT!!! Just ask SoLo how many schools I've graduated from and what I've studied ha ha ha ha ha LONG list LOL!!!!
So what about you guys/gals? any ideal career for you or are you already there? come on do share... LOL!!! thanx for reading my rant LOL!!!

Hey i am sure that you'd be great in whatever you do :)

I want to be in PR! That's always been my dream and in my current job i am able to do that but i want to do that fully :) Looking at some courses also to upgrade myself. Don't want to be left behind.

First of all I love reading your blog - fun, entertaining, informative and of course - our one common love respect for sweet-tooth/heart Wentworth Miller!

My ideal job is a reporter on one of those travelling shows!

To be fair, I'm working in a field where I have a passion for so I guess I'm quite lucky!

Well done on going back to college to finish you first degree!

Dear, SoHo

I wish I were like you . I wish I could say I love being a student, but I really hate it.

I've enrolled in this college in 2003 and I still haven't finished it (it's not as bad as it sounds because average student graduates in 7 years and 5 months, but still... I mean it's a 4 year college, it's just that we have this old-communist-type of higher education that produces /or in my case nestles/ slackers not professionals...)

Anyhoo.

I'm majoring in English and History, and I hate History. I don't know why I chose it as a major. Perhaps I'm a masochist. English too, has become boring really. I like reading, but I hate being graded for reproducing thoughts written in some pompous elitist critique...

*scratching head*

I should say something nice now, shouldn't I?

I guess my majors are interesting, it is I who has lost interest.

I am so happy for you that you're going back to Med school. I think it's wonderful. I've always loved biology and chemistry, but operating on people isn't for me.

I think I'd get too emotional and instead of performing CPR I'd scream: Why, God, why!!!! and that wouldn't be helpful, would it? lol

I could see myself as a marine biologist or botanist, though. *rubbing chin*

But for now, I should just finish what I've started.

Good luck to you, and inform us about the plans and progress! I'm looking forward to reading about it.

SavMed

P.S. If you want, you could post about some awesome recipes every now and then. You being a chef 'n' all ;)

And I'm sorry for this super long comment.

SavMed,

Ah how I LOVE reading your comments!!! you always have something funny or interesting to say...

I think you dont like being a student because you are studying something you dont really like... I studied a bunch of stuff that i did finish because it was really interesting to me the entire way through... I mean everything from flight school to culinary school and real estate law, bartending school, you name it, i've done it LOL but because it was just so amazing to me. I guess wut i am trying to say is that you just have to find your true interest and you will naturally follow through as opposed to forcing yourself to finish... you see wut I am saying here?... anyway I hope you find wut you really want to do and wish you the absolute best of luck with it!!! Once you find your ideal field... it'll be easy to kick some butt!! good luck!! I wouldnt go through with something i didnt like because that's just time wasted... but it's only my opinion... No worries about the long comment I like those LOL!!!

hugs and kisses

Hey Soho & SavMed,

I'm currently looking for a college to finish my degree after 10 years, and get into a field that that I'm truly passionate about - Special Education. (As I said above I do actually love my current job but, I guess it took me a long time to really push myself for realise I could actually get what I want!)

It has been a frustrating long road to get to where I am - and I am NOT even at the starting point so SavMed - hang in there - really!

Yeah is it possible to post some of your own recipes so share?!

Dear SoHo,

Congrats! I finally went back to school this past August. It was a shock to the system at first, after ten years since undergrad, but if you love the subject..every minute is worth it!

It took me forever to decide on a career, but I think the wait is going to be worth it!

Thanks to you and SoLo for the lovely entertaining blog!

p.s. I almost went to culinary school myself..and after managing a restaurant phew am I glad I didn't!

Someone in SoBe,

THANK YOU

I am really glad you went back to school. I do agree that the wait to find that one career that interests you is really worth it. Well I wish you all the best in your career.
Well the restaurant business is definitely hectic and there is sooooooo much work... But we all have our likes and dislikes as far as careers go.

Thanx for stopping by!!
