This Black History honor goes to...

Wentworth Earl Miller III

* Birth Place: Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England
* Date of Birth: 06/02/1972
* Profession: Actor

Formerly known as "the hot guy from that Mariah Carey video," Miller boasts an impressive intellectual pedigree. Born in England to a Rhodes-scholar father, this sexy, multiracial actor graduated from Princeton with a degree in English in 1995. After moving to Los Angeles, he made guest appearances on various TV series before landing what seemed to be his big break, a role in 2003's The Human Stain playing Anthony Hopkins' younger African American self. After stealing Carey away from Eric Roberts in the "We Belong Together" video, Wentworth found small-screen success on Prison Break as a tattooed hunk determined to free his wrongfully convicted brother from death row.

Wentworth Miller Fast Facts:

* Was a member of Princeton's a cappella group, the Princeton Tigertones.
* Made Entertainment Weekly's 2003 IT List after being noticed in Popular and Dinotopia. He was the IT Ex-Teen Crush.
* Provided the voice of EDI, the evil robot jet, in the 2005 film Stealth.
* Has vivid memories of his Prison Break audition. He told the Hollywood Reporter, "There I was, doing my test in a room full of Fox executives, and I realized that I had temped in the offices of probably half of them... the people I was trying to impress remembered me from the copy machine — it was insane."
* Named one of TV's Sexiest Men by TV GUIDE in 2006.
* Named one of People Magazine Most Beautiful people twice
* 2006 Golden Globe: Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama - Nominee

We chose Wentworth as one of our Black History honorees because of his generosity to others. A group of individuals got together & decided that a great birthday gift for him would be to donate money to an organization in need in his honor. They left the decision up to him in deciding which charity it would go to. But what did Wentworth do? He decided that because his adoring fans were kind enough to come up with the idea, that they should choose the charity. He was also so moved by their gesture, that he gave an additional $5,000 to whatever money was donated! He had this to say:

"It's my privilege to be a part of the entertainment business, an industry that has reached out to and touched the lives of billions of people around the world. It gives me tremendous pleasure to think that many of those same people have been motivated to reach out to others in turn. This charitable effort was conceived, organized and executed by a group of generous fans willing to donate their time and energies to a worthy cause. I'm honored to participate in this process, and I thank you for doing the same."

I'm honored to be a fan of his & am most privileged to be able to honor him for Black History Month!

ETA: For anyone who didn't know, the charity chosen was UNICEF!
