Ok so what goes together better than getting dressed & going out for dinner & a movie? How about SoHo Meets SoLo fashion with dinner & a movie! Well, we asked, you want it, so here's your first dose of what we used to do - for those of you who weren't around back then, get ready! For those of you who were, you know what to expect! So either way, enjoy the fun!

Alrighty, so first up, we have fashion from Gap Spring 2009. There was a runway show back in September 2008 & here are a few photos of what the models were wearing.


The first, I think, is pretty cute. I'm really into big purses so this ensemble caught my eye. I'm definitely a T-shirt kinda' girl, so this exudes with comfort for me! The second one is pretty neat for a guy. If my guy wore Gap, this would be something I'd buy! Casual & comfy but could still be worn out to dinner! Now the 3rd pic is just NICE =D Moving right along! The last one is just plain wrong on so many levels, not to mention the girl looks like a mannequin! Is that a mannequin? Now you see why I'm puzzled :|

Ok so you're all dressed & ready to go out for some fun, so off to the movies! You get to the theatre but decide "Monsters VS. Aliens" (I love Kiefer but I'll wait for the DVD) isn't exactly what you want to watch so you & your GAP fashion BF hike over to the video store for a night in - you can get dressed up to sit on the couch, what!



My new favorite movie is "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith & Rosario Dawson! OMG talk about the perfect date movie... although I watched it while someone sat next to me & SNORED!!! Anyhoot, Academy Award® nominee Will Smith (2006, Best Actor, The Pursuit of Happyness) stars as Ben Thomas, a man at a crossroads. He embarks on a journey to help change the circumstances of seven strangers who deserve a second chance in life. But when he opens his heart to a beautiful woman who needs his help, he risks everything he's planned for one last chance at love. From the director of The Pursuit of Happyness comes this "life changing motion picture you will not easily forget" - Pete Hammond, HOLLYWOOD.COM.


This was an absolutely amazing movie. I'm not a cry baby or anything (well, yes I am) but I cried a good bit during this movie. It's a very sweet movie. This man decides he's going to do all he can to help others then makes the ultimate sacrifice out of love. It's just a great movie, really. So if you haven't seen it, get it & watch it! If you have seen it, get it & watch it again! Here's a little clip to get your interested =)



Alright, the movie's all done & you're both starved. "Supper" time - shut up; I'm from the country!

If you guys don't already know, I love food! I love to eat & I enjoy cooking things that I really, really like. Two of my favorite foods are pan seared chicken & shrimp scampi, so anytime I can eat them together, I'm all for it! So with that, I bring one of my favorite dishes with two of my favorite foods! I usually it this with a baked potato, new potatoes or a salad, but you can also try it with pasta or rice.



Ingredients:

* 2 to 3 boneless chicken breast halves or tenders, about 1 pound
* 1 pound large shrimp
* 6 tablespoons butter
* 1/4 cup olive oil
* 4 medium cloves garlic, smashed and minced
* 1/4 cup of chopped green onions
* 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley, or 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon Creole seasoning or seasoned salt blend

Preparation:
Lightly pound chicken between sheets of plastic wrap to an even thickness. Cut in strips about 1-inch wide.

In a large skillet, melt the butter with olive oil. Add garlic, green onions, parsley, salt, and seasoning. Heat over medium low heat and add the chicken and shrimp. Cook the shrimp and chicken mixture, stirring, for about 10 to 15 minutes, until cooked through. If shrimp are small, add them in a few minutes after adding chicken. Serve with potatoes, pasta, rice or salad. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley, if desired.
Serves 4 to 6.

This week, We bring you one of THE BEST movies ever!!!! Oceans Thirteen is in my opinion the best sequal movie ever, following Oceans 11 and Oceans 12. All the Oceans movies are AMAZING but 13 is by far my (SoHo) favorite!! Sit back, relax and enjoy one of your weeknights with this AWESOME movie. ENJOY and have a BANG'N WEEK!!!

Last Saturday, the world of comedy (and the world in general) lost a very funny man - Bernie Mac. I've seen lots of his movies but, just today, had the opportunity to watch Guess Who. Synopsis

Movie Night!! Bring on the popcorn 8/10

Who DOESN'T love the Simpsons? Personally I (SoHo) am a HUGE fan of the Simpsons. I even have Krusty Os, Buzz cola, and a laminated copy of Bart's Radioactive Man comic book!!! Yes, I did get these items during the promotion of the Simpsons movie and YES, I still have them LOL!! Did I like the movie? Well... it was ok but because I am a Simpsons fanatic, I am throwing you The Simpsons Movie this week!!! It's kinda odd but will give you a laugh. Anyway, ENJOY!!!

The Simpsons Movie is a 2007 American animated comedy film based on the animated television series The Simpsons. The film was directed by David Silverman, and stars the regular television cast of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Tress MacNeille and Pamela Hayden. It features Albert Brooks as Russ Cargill, the evil head of the Environmental Protection Agency who intends to destroy Springfield after Homer pollutes the lake. As the townspeople exile him and eventually his family abandon him, Homer works to redeem his folly by stopping Cargill's scheme.

Previous attempts to create a film version of The Simpsons failed due to the lack of a script of appropriate length and production crew members. Eventually, producers James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, Mike Scully, and Richard Sakai began development of the film in 2001. A writing team consisting of Scully, Jean, Brooks, Groening, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, John Swartzwelder, Jon Vitti, Ian Maxtone-Graham and Matt Selman was assembled. They conceived numerous plot ideas, with Groening's being the one developed into a film. The script was re-written over a hundred times, and this creativity continued after animation had begun in 2006. This meant hours of finished material was cut, which included cameo roles from Erin Brockovich, Minnie Driver, Isla Fisher, Kelsey Grammer and Edward Norton. Tom Hanks and Green Day appeared in the final cut as themselves.

Tie-in promotions were made with several companies, including Burger King and 7-Eleven, which transformed selected stores into Kwik-E-Marts. The film premiered in Springfield, Vermont, which had won the right to hold it through a competition organized by Fox. The film was a box office success, grossing over US$526 million. It received a significant majority of positive reviews, with some critics saying it was better than the latter seasons of the show.

If you're looking for a little comedy, we've got just the movie for you. SoHo Meets SoLo presents you with the 1991 Italian comical movie "Johnny Stechino!" In English it translates to Johnny Toothpick. This is a fun film that will hit the spot. So sit back, relax, grab a frap if you will and enjoy this week's pick!! By the way, for those of you who don't speak Italian, this movie DOES have English subtitles. What's this movie about?? Well...

Good hearted but not very wordly-wise, Dante is happy driving the school bus for a group of mentally handicapped children, while feeling he is somehow missing out on life and love. So he is very excited when after nearly being knocked down by her car he meets Maria, who seems immediately enamoured of him. He is soon invited to her sumptuous Palermo villa, little suspecting that this is part of a plot. He bears an amazing likeness to Maria's stool-pigeon gangster husband and it would be convenient for them if the mobster, in the shape of Dante, was seen to be dead and buried.

Dante (Roberto Benigni) is the ultimate loser. Nothing seems to work for him - especially in love. Suddenly, a beautiful and rich woman (Nicoletta Braschi) gives him some hope. However, the deal involves Dante going to Sicily where the woman's husband (Roberto Benigni) is an infamous gangster known as Johnny the Toothpick ("stecchino" in Italian). Johnny has denounced some of the local mafiosi to the police so their friends want him dead. So, why not get Dante killed instead.

Whether you plan to watch a movie by yourself, with a friend, mom or dad, the kids, your BF, GF, BFF, your hubby, your mami or papi, the butcher, mailman (really, people, I could do this all night LOL); boy, do we have the perfect movie for you!!!! SoHo loves "black and white" movies and has excellent picks that will certainly add a classic touch to your night!! For those of you who don't like the old "black and white" movies, we also have some picks that look hella good in Blu-Ray LOL!!!! We choose from early 1900's classics to present flicks too, so rest assured we can recommend just about any movie we think our readers will watch. Don't be a grouch, folks, be open to something different! Besides, if we recommend a movie, its sure to save the world or at least save your night from extreme boredum LOL! So sit back, relax and get your movie on & popping - did you get that? "Popping"- like popcorn that you eat when you watch the... ok whatever, just go watch this movie!

There are heroes ... there are superheroes ... and then there's Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility -- everyone knows that -- everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough -- as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think -- until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet -- and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he's a lost cause.

Now that synopsis was provided by Sony, but let me give you the SoLo version LOL! The movie is basically about a drunk superhero/jerk of a guy, John Hancock, who saves the world like no one else can, but does it in a very damaging way! He saves a guy from being hit by a train by smashing the train & causing immeasurable damage! The guy he saves, Ray, is married to Mary, who Hancock later finds out is really someone he knows but doesn't know! He is on a downhill spiral and there seems to be no hope for him... UNTIL! After the "until" part, he then has to deal with another obstacle that brings us to the climax of the movie, which I can't tell you about without giving you too much detail! Just trust me on this one, folks... it's a hell of a movie that you HAVE TO GO SEE! I wanna' see it again, which is waaaaaaaaaay more than I can say for "I Am Legend"! *ducking tomatoes & other foreign objects being hurled at my head* - sorry folks, but I was not impressed with that one at all! Anyhoot, go see "Hancock" - it's awesome!
