My Ice Cream!!
My mom and I went to my favorite korean grocery store and I found ice cream that had my last name on it!! thus, i feel I am now heiress to the Bravo ice cream company fortune! ha ha ha ha It was pretty cool. of course my last name or surname has been slapped on a bunch of things like italian restaurants, german magazines, tv networks and now ice cream!! my favorite treat!! if you look closely at the chocolate one, it says "Bravo will lead you to the sweets" ha ha ha I LOVE THAT!! as a Bravo myself, I can say that THIS Bravo cant get away from the sweets! LOL anyway Banana, Chocolate and Vanilla flavors... GREAT STUFF!
BBQ!!
yesterday I was off from work and decided to do some BBQ. Now, as you all know, I am vegetarian so I dont eat meat but I dont mind marinating it and cooking it, especially while cooking with my mom. She is soooo hilarious! we got distracted laughing so much that we charred a bit of the chicken thighs lol that's ok, my mom likes the meat a little burnt anyway. lol I marinated eggplant, zucchini, radicchio and squash and grilled those. I also made a cous cous salad that was delicious. after the fire dies down and only some light flames remain, we love to cook corn! it's soooooo good!!

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!!!!!
Hi guys!!! today is cinco de mayo (the 5th of May) and in case you dont know what's so special about this date, well it the day that t commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Unlikely victory? well... Mexico didnt have the best weapons back then and France was very modern in their technology by comparison so even though Mexico didnt have the best weapons, It still won the battle against France. So today is the day when Mexicans and even non Mexicans get together to celebrate this day... though I have to admit that it's now become an excuse to drink, party and eat a lot. LOL!! but whatever!! lol Party time!!!!!!!!

OH MY TOFU!!!!
I am so sad that tofu used to cost 99 cents about a week ago and now it is up to $2.49!!!! per pack!! this angers me because tofu is a good chunk of my food intake and one of my favorite things to eat and now it's so expensive i cant buy as much for the same amount of money!!! grrrrr!!! will this crisis never end? LOL anyway I have decided to make a little cash by collecting seashells from my local beaches (marina del rey, venice beach, and santa monica) and making cute jewelry from them!! I've already started making some and they are turning out great!!!!! I'll post pictures as soon as I complete them.
SOOOOO HOT!!!!
If you live or are visiting Los Angeles right now, then you know that it is incredibly HOT out here OMG I am so sweaty just sitting on my couch not doing anything!! why not use a fan or air conditioner? simple, the economy is soooo bad right now I rather sweat all damn day than pay another dollar on electricity. How is it in ur part of the country or in ur country?

Congrats CHAD!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!
Pictured above is the winning team Lead by Chef Chad Colby. from left to right Sarah, Sophie Gayot, Chad Colby, Jonathan, Marisa, and damn I forgot the last girl's name.. but she's awesome she a bartender at my job (Mozza). she made a drink using smoked pork I think... it sounds gross but hey they won so it must have been good. LOL
Yesterday Gayot held a competition featuring the four best chefs in Los Angeles to use a pig and break it down and come up with the best dishes with the main ingredient being the pig. Well one of the best chefs is CHAD from Osteria Mozza where I work and with the help of his kick ass crew Sara (pastry sous chef) The always hilarious and pain in the ass Jonathan (Mozza sous chef) and last but not least, Chad's right hand girl the always funny and sweet Marissa (cook) It was sooo awesome to know that they won this difficult competition but I tell you, Chad and the crew have been working on their dishes for the longest and it looks like it paid off because they won!!!! YAY!! congrats guys!!! Check out the full article!! OH and they've made it to the FINALS!!!This Sunday, May 1, five top LA chefs will each prepare a 175-pound, heritage-breed hog from head to toe for a friendly competition called Cochon 555. This ten-city touring event is the only culinary competition of its kind in the country, and will help family farms sustain and expand their businesses. Competing in the LA stop will be Octavio Becerra (Palate Food + Wine), Chad Colby (Osteria Mozza), Ben Ford (Ford’s Filling Station), Tim Goodell (Public Kitchen & Bar) and Joshua Whigham (The Bazaar). To support the event and its worthy cause, I will be there with other local judges to determine a winner based on presentation, utilization and overall best flavor.
In addition, five selected winemakers will showcase their wines: The Scholium Project, Alysian, Arnot-Roberts, Copain Wines, and Red Car Wine. The event begins at 5 p.m. at Vibiana, 214 South Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. General admission tickets are $125, and VIP tickets (which allow entry at 3:30 p.m.) are $175. Tickets and more information are available at: www.cochon555.com.
All judges have received instructions from the organizers to neither eat nor drink 24 hours prior. May I assume there will be lots of bacon, pig’s ears, pork belly, pork chops… and wine? I hope to see you Sunday. And for those who can not attend, I will announce the winner of the 2011 Los Angeles Cochon 555 in the evening here in this blog, so check back. Good luck, chefs!
