Turkish hotness!!!

Ok so I remembered a song called "kiss kiss" by a Turkish singer, Tarkan. This man is super hot and has great music even though i dont understand a single word he says in his songs. LOL!! His song "kiss kiss" topped the charts of the hispanic community a few years back and it was my favorite song at the time. check it out. Oh and I have a new favorite song of his called "Kuzu Kuzu" Let me tell you, this guy is HOT and has BEAUTIFUL eyes too!!! ahhhh sigh!! ok enjoy!

Remember Shaheen Jafargholi? the kid with an amazing voice from the show britian's got talent? I dont know about you but I am still a fan. This kid has such an amazing voice it kills me. I was watching Michael Jackson's memorial service on youtube and saw Shaheen on there and I just had to see more videos of him singing. I get goose bumps just hearing him sing. so here's a vid of him singing, I'll be there. check it out!!! I am still a fan I dont care. LOL

My mom likes Wentworth???

Ok so my mom know's I am heart broken right now and just like every mom, she tries and tries to make me feel better and console me by bad mouthing the person that broke my heart and saying he's not worth it dont listen to him and what not... I appreciate it but, I cant lie, that didnt work for me.my heart remains broken. LOL anyway I showed her my blog and showed her a pic of Wentworth Miller, the one above and said, no worries mom, that's my new boyfriend right there. That's the one I told you paparazzi caught me with. Of course like most moms her age, she doesnt know who he is, I was like well, he's an actor and he's my new boyfriend. Do you think he's hot? Now I must say, my mom didnt have her glasses on so she couldnt see his face clearly. So she said... well I cant really see his face but he has a really nice body. I was totally laughing. I zoomed in so that she could see his face, and my mom said oh wow!!! he IS hot. Wow he has beautiful eyes! I said yeah I am showing you my new boyfriend before I bring him home. She said well, bring him home instead, he's cute and has a good body. Maybe he can get you an acting career too. I was like mom you know I dont like the spotlight and like to hide behind hot stoves. Besides what would I do as an actress? just act stupid in front of a camera? I could act stupid here at home. I tell you guys, my mom has some smart ass replies ha ha ha ha ha she says, "yeah but you are not getting paid to act stupid at home" I was laughing sooo hard. ha ha ha ha first time i've smiled since wednesday really. What do you eat?

As a vegetarian, I get a lot of people asking me what I eat. I simply respond everything everybody else eats except without the meat. Yes there are soy burgers, tofu "turkey deli slices" that dont have turkey in them, soy burger patties etc.. but I dont eat that stuff to often. I find it a bit to processed for me. though absolutely delicious. I like the meatless italian sausage. OMG that stuff is good. and lots of other stuff but in a normal day this is some of the stuff i eat. I try to eat healthy... like the picture above. this is a sample of the food I'll have in a day. breakfast lunch dinner and snacks. From left to right... A tofu deli slice sandwhich with a fried egg on whole wheat bread for lunch, For breakfast is oatmeal, for dinner is a romaine salad with a yogurt honey dressing and tofu cubes, and a cup of lentil soup. my snacks are fruits. nectarine grapes, and a banana.




One of my favorite breakfast/lunch items is half a sweet melon with plain greek style yogurt drizzled with mesquite honey topped with toasted almonds (ran out for this picture) and two chunks of watermelon on the side. OH MY STARS YOU GOTTA TRY THIS!!! you can use regular honey bee honey but i was just curious how mesquite honey tasted... lol really good actually lol. so give this a try or let me know what you like to eat? Oh yeah, I am a sucker for trail mix LOL

remember that salad?

Remember that salad I was making with the bell peppers? I forgot to post the last step and the finished product so here they go.
Ok take the bell peppers out of the fridge and the marinade will be used as the dressing. Chop some romain lettuce and add it to the bell peppers. Toss the salad and serve right away ENJOY!

My korean market!!!

Oh how I love my korean market. I took a little trip to my korean market for some ingredients that i needed and decided, i'll take some pictures for my blog. well... here are my pictures. check them out. I LOVE this store. If ur ever out here in L.A. make sure to stop by. It's called California Market. BEST place ever! love it love it love it!!

Picture above: Half the shelf has soy bean paste... SUPER DELICIOUS!! that was one of the items on my shopping list. and the right side of the shelf in the red containers is gochugian. I think that's how you spell it. LOL but it was also on my shopping list. It's basically a red chili paste also VERY DELICIOUS!


Sliced fresh korean radish. This is used to put meat in. sort of wrap the meat inside the lotus root slice.


Lot's of delicious tofu!!!!! YUM!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE tofu!!


Last but not least RICE CAKES! I forgot the name for these things but they are basically rice dumplings if you will. kind of like gnocchi but made with rice flour instead of all purpose flour or wheat flour. whatever. LOL I was gonna get these cuz I have a recipe for them but I thought well i am the only one that's gonna eat this and I cant take in too many calories right now. so maybe next time.

crepe me!!

Today I woke up and as I walked to down the hallway to my restroom, I see my mom coming towards me with a big smile on her face yelling crepes!!! crepes!! crepes!!! I was like what??? she replied CREPES!! we're making crepes today!! I was like OH!! Ok! I guess we are then. LOL so anyway I made the batter as my mom heated the pan. I like to put a little twist on my crepes so I added some cinnamon and vanilla extract to my batter and adjusted the flour content to the right consistency. Once the pan was hot, i took my expert crepe making hand to the batter and let the fun times roll!! LOL well my mom watched and said I made it look really easy but I've been doing this for a few years now so what do you expect? i let my mom try and I was shocked!! she did it surprisingly well!!!! anyway so i made her banana strawberry crepes with a brown sugar and butter sauce, topped with a touch of maple syrup, a sprinkle of confectioners sugar, a fresh sliced strawberry and a couple leaves of mint for decor. I didnt eat any as I was too upset still to eat but it was fun making crepes with my mom.

ADVENTURES OF SOHO MEETS SOLO

Ok so it's been a while since our last adventures of soho meets solo. well here's one from mexico that I had. I was at my grandparents house and they have a giant tree in their yard with a lot of birds living in it. I sat outside peacefully when my peace was interrupted by screaming and wing flapping from the birds. I looked up and saw a Toucan bird trying to eat the babies of another bird. The birds from that tree all attacked the toucan and it flew away empty handed. I thought that was pretty neat how they all protected the babies of this one mother bird. so I sat and watched, then out of nowhere i see a baby bird fall off the tree. OMG!!! PAPA!!! COME QUICK!! My dad came running and I saw the baby bird on the floor but couldnt see it's head, i thought the toucan bit it off so I asked my dad if i should pick up the baby bird and he said yes. I picked it up but it's head was just sunk into it's shoulders. the baby bird was ok. I felt bad for it and asked my dad to give the baby bird back to it's mommy. My dad said ok but I cant see the nest. After studying the tree for a bit, my dad says oh i see the nest!! I was like ok cool put it back in the nest. He said yeah but how do I get up there? Use a ladder I said. Oh right! my dad grabs a ladder and places it against the tree. he then stays quiet and says I hear another bird on the floor somewhere!! we follow the bird's chirps and find it under some branches. It had fallen too!!! I cradled both birds in my hand until my dad got a cloth bag to put the birds in. he strapped the bag to himself while he climbed the ladder then strapped himself to the tree when he had to climb higher. He reached the nest and placed both birds in it very carefully. Now some birds will not want their babies anymore after they have been touched by humans because they can smell the scent and will just abandon their babies. so after the birds were carefully placed back in their nest, my dad says HEY THERE'S A THIRD BABY BIRD IN HERE!! that was cool so he climbs back down and we watch the mommy bird approach her nest after screaming hysterically because of the toucan's attack on her babies. she calms down and looks at her nest and hops in. we wait a bit and realize that she didnt mind my scent on her babies because she still sat back in her nest to care for her little ones!! they were soooooo cute!!

To tip or not to tip?

I read a posting on yahoo about this girl being upset that she went to a restaurant and tipped before she got her food for take out, and when they brought her her take out food, not only her but everyone that ordered take out had to box and bag their own food. so she was upset that the credit card receipt had that famous line that said tip and she tipped but then when her food was brought out, she had to box and bag her own food. then she said that why should she tip if she's gonna be doing the work. I agree. with her and frankly I dont tip when I order take out. then I thought, I am a VERY GENEROUS tipper but I am basically tipping waiters at restaurants for them to do their jobs? I mean I've worked in kitchens all over LA as a cook now chef and did I ever get tips for doing my job? NO!!! so I am starting to rethink this whole tipping business. I know restaurant jobs pay crap to their waiters but believe me, cooks get paid crap too. even less than waiters and they get NO TIPS!!! Do lawyers get tips for doing their job? do doctors get tips for doing their job? do sales reps get tips for doing their job? It is absolutely annoying when I get a receipt to sign and it has a blank line and tip is written next to it. I admit I have many many many times left the line blank because I think it's rude to have that line on the receipt. Ur basically asking me for a tip and that's a no no in my book. I also HATE the jars ppl put at the counter when ur gonna pay. What do they want those tips for? just for being there? that's also rude to me and ridiculous. I definitely dont tip the jars. that's just insane. so how do you feel about tipping? as a matter of fact, I thought tips were a voluntary not customary. I think I will start rethinking my tips.

I am so mad at you fuser!! YOU MADE ME EAT EGG WITH CAYENNE PEPPER AND I AM ON A DIET!!!!! >:( lol JUST KIDDING!!! I AM NOT MAD AT YOU. LOL!!!! I tried eggs with cayenne pepper. DELICIOUS!!!!! Thanx soooo much!! they were really good!!!! ok back on my diet. ha ha ha ha ha!!

Share ur cuisine!!!!!

Ok so I am supposed to be on a diet for this tryout that I will be doing in a couple of weeks. I dont wanna do it really but money talks right? LOL Anyway I have to look slim for Hollywood. no surprise there. but anyway so I was exchanging food conversations with Zie and Fuser in one of the comment sections below and I got to thinking, ok Zie is from Singapore, and has sent me pictures of lots of stuff that she cooks or that her family cooks an boy, it looks mouthwatering!!!!!!!! Her Malay food looks delicious!!!!!! especially that damn curry and rice that I need to try. I FREAKIN LOVE CURRY!!!!!!! Oh and Zie I would love to try the cakes you showed me pictures of remember? those lovely layered colorful cakes OMG Ur killing me. I saved the pictures and all the pictures you've sent me on my online photo album. LOL food porn. LOL Fuser as we all know, is from beautiful GREECE!!!! ahhhh I will go one day... I will!!! anyway I commented to her that in culinary school, I ate a lot of Greek food even though I went to a french school. I would know ppl that were in the international kitchen and cooking greek so that's where I snatched my food from. LOL JK they would bring plates of food to my class. boy I loved it especially the tabbouleh salad and hummus that I buy every couple of weeks OMG the felafel I cant even begin how to tell you how much i love greek food. but since I am a cow, I love all food. LOL!!Anyway so what about you there.... yeah you!!! what food do you like from your country? and dont be shy cuz I never get feedback from you guys. tell me what country you are from and what food is typical of that country. what's for dinner?

Alright since I dont know what to post anymore, I am going to post what I am making for dinner. basically a bell pepper and romain heart salad. take a look at what i've done so far... what you will need. a palm full of fresh cilantro. 1 lime... or yellow lemon. green, yellow and red bell peppers. I just used a tiny piece from all three cuz you'll have enough for two servings by the time you add all three pieces of bell peppers and the romain lettuce. a quarter white, yellow, or purple onion. a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper
slice the peppers into thin strips.

Saute the peppers in a little olive oil with some salt and pepper until soft but still crunchy. Remove from heat and let cool on a flat plate.



slice the onion thinly like this

Add the lemon juice, sliced onions, and chopped cilantro and mix together. Let marinate in the refrigerater for 3 hours.
