Happy belated holidays!!!!

I know I am late on wishing everybody a very happy holiday but HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday/holiday season. Again I've been crazy busy at work so not much time to chat with you all. HOWEVER I do have tons of stuff to tell you and post about including seeing cameron diaz eating at mishima across from me. anyway I have pictures of lots of stuff and stories to tell which i will tell as soon as this holiday rush at the restaurant is over. again, i hope you all had wonderful holidays and I wish you the very best and nothing but the very best this upcoming new year!! I know I said i'd be back

Hi guys!! I know I said I'd be back but the holidays are killing me at work. I am immediately working from the time I set foot at the restaurant early in the morning to late at night so when I get home already half asleep and with no energy to eat, I just crawl into bed still in my work clothes and sleep until i have to get up again shower and go to work. I cant wait till this holiday rush is over. I love my job but enough is enough. we are hosting way too many parties back to back and it will continue until new years day so forgive me if I am only around to tell you that i havent posted cuz I am busy. I just woke up and about to hit the shower now before going to work. this is the only time I have to post quickly sometimes not even that. But I still thank you all for coming and visiting the blog. I promise i'll try to make some time to post. this week. Thanx so much everyone!!

couldnt make it

Ok so my friends and I arrived really late and couldnt make it to the jay leno show but we did get seats for this thursday!! I might be there on friday as well because justin timberlake will be there so I think i'll try my best to be there both days. anyway we hung out by the forest lawn cemetery instead. Yes where Michael Jackson is buried. I have pictures of the front of the cemetery only because we didnt want to walk in because it was just way to cold out to be roaming the cemetery for fun. I'll post pictures when I get back from work. I have lots and lots and lots of parties to cook for so i've been busy but do find time for all of you!! ok my lovelies, I'll see you all in a bit. SoHo goes to Jimmy Kimmel live!

Hey everybody!! so last night me, my friend chris, charlie, and my boss all went to the jimmy kimmel live show and it was the funniest thing ever!!!(yes the same show wenty went on back in... i forgot what year. LOL) Ok there was a french michael jackson in the audience. I think he had mental issues but he was funny. Anyway so before the show actually starts, there is a guy that comes out and preps the audience for when the actual show starts... by the way it's called jimmy kimmel live... it's NOT live. all the good parts were edited out. Anyway so this french michael jackson is spotted in the audience by the announcer who's also a comedian at the comedy store on sunset in hollywood (in case ur visiting)anyway he grabs a microphone and walks up to the french michael jackson and asks where he's from...



so he says paris. Then he says something in french and nobody understood. So my boss yelled out at him in french because we were sitting close to this guy so the announcer asked my boss if he spoke french and he said yes.
Announcer: you speak french?
Boss: yes I speak french
Audience: laughs
announcer: ok ask him why he's dressed like michael jackson.
Boss: (translates)
French Michael Jackson:(answers in french)
Boss: he said that he likes michael jackson because he's the best and because he had many MJ contacts and MJ gave him glasses and he even wrote to him.
Audience: laughs
announcer: ask him if michael jackson is black or white in france?
Boss: (asks)
French MJ: (replies)
Boss: He says MJ is white.
Audience: cracking up
announcer: ask him if he is doing this for attention or he wants to show off his talent?
Boss: translates
French MJ: answers
Boss: he says he's very talented.
Audience: still cracking up
announcer: ask him if he wants to show us his talent.
Boss: translates
French MJ: replies
Boss: he says yes he can even dance like michael
announcer: OH OH OH OK can you go to the stage and show us how you dance? do you wanna go dance on stage? ask him if he would like to go on stage and show us his talent.
Boss: (whispers to me away from the microphone " this guy is an embarassment to the French and to my country)
Me: LMAO ur mean!! leave the guy alone. He's a fan and enjoying himself.
Boss: translates
French MJ: oui
announcer: oui oui ok come. get down there let's go on stage. see you dance. give him a hand everybody!!!
audience: cheering,clapping and laughing

at this point the band on the show starts playing a michael jackson song and the French MJ starts dancing like crazy but it's nothing like Michael Jackson at all. this guy looks like he's twitching. ha ha ha ha he doesnt even do the moon walk but everyone is enjoying watching him. My boss, clearly embarrassed for the French. I was like you shouldnt be embarrassed of ur brother. (inside joke... whenever he sees a mexican, he always says oh look mayra, it's ur brother/sister). so this time i got to say it. LOL!!so the french guy is singing but sounds like he's howling. so he does his thing and the announcer asks my boss to ask him if he can go back to his seat and sit quietly.
Boss: translates
French MJ: nods yes.
Me: thinking this guy is way too hyper. all over the place. wow.

so he goes back to his seat.

announcer: ok give michael jackson another round of applause;
audience: cheering
French MJ: smiling big and waving at audience.

the countdown starts and the show begins.
Jimmy Kimmel comes out and says for the most part, there is a french michael jackson here with me tonight... camera on him. audience laughs.
when the show goes on it's first commercial break, the camera is back on MJ.

hi everybody!! ok so I got off of work a bit early and my boss and I decided to walk around the grove to check out the holiday decorations it was awesome I tell ya. I must admit I am not a christmas person and I'd trade my christmas for two halloweens but the grove does put me in a christmas mood. here are some pictures of what you can find if you go there. oh and if you do, stop by Morels and say hi to me. hello again!!!

Hi guys sorry for not posting lately. I've been crazy busy at work because of the holidays. Last night my restaurant was jam packed with ppl and I had to work a double shift. 14 hour days lately so I only have enough energy to come home, shower and sleep. I dyed my hair red so i'll be posting pictures of that. I know I know...no Halloween pics

I know I said i'd have halloween pictures and I just remembered i said that. Well you see, I got off of work late because I was called in even though i scheduled myself so I have that day off. Anyway my co worker and I went to the halloween parade but after it was over. that's when all the weirdos come out LOL so we at least wanted to see that. the problem is I also took a long nap before going so when we went the parade had been over for at least an hour. Ok so Mila is Went's co worker also an actress. She does tweet and here's what she had to say about him. apparently there was a shooting scene and Went had to shoot a gun but shot to close to someone's ear i think. Mila says Went was mortified that she tweeted the story LOL! cute!! check out what Mila said.

Hi everybody!!! sorry i've been away. I havent been home for a few days. Anyway HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!! I love halloween!!! So today is Halloween and aside from it being today and my favorite holiday, I got a double surprise on my way to work!!! surprise one was that my boss was carpooling with me because his motorcycle is having electrical problems so he drove us to work in my car. Surprise two was I SAW WENTWORTH MILLER AGAIN!!!!! TODAY!!! YAY!!!

I am happy to report that he's back home safe and sound from toronto. I tell ya this guy is an early bird. It was about seven 40 when I saw him driving behind my boss and I. So my boss was driving my car down a major street and I was just looking around enjoying the scenery since I wasnt driving this time. as we approached a small intersection I see a familiar person in a black suv. "OMG THAT'S MY BOYFRIEND FROM PRISON BREAK!!" I Yelled. My boss was like no way! really? I was like yeah look slow down so that he can turn into the lane next to us and you'll see. I swear it's him!"
so we slowed down A LOT and my goodness Wenty was driving incredibly slow!! either that or we were in a hurry to get to work!! So has the black SUV lines up next to us my boss looks at him and says oh wow that really is him huh? I was like YEAH!! OMG HE"S SO HOT!!! So my boss is like roll down ur window and say hi to him" I was like "No! I am not gonna do that! I'll looks so stupid" LOL!!! "Mayra just say hi to him!" "NO!" fine. "OMG i dont have my phone!!!! I left it at your house!!!! damn I was going to call my friends Zie and Laila!!" "For what?" to tell them that I am staring at Wentworth Miller as we speak ha ha ha ha ha!!!" "Damn Mayra, look at you throwing yourself at him" "first of all, he's crazy hot! what girl wouldnt throw herself at him. just look at him!"
at this point Mr. Miller goes in front of us now and turns into a small street then right away into a parking lot with a bunch of little shops that were all still closed. including a papa johns. I take one more look and then we're off.

I was being teased all day about this by my boss. he even went as far as calling me a whore for some reason LOL!!! I guess cuz he really felt I threw myself at Went which yes, I admit I did LOL!! anyway that was my morning today. I'll be back with more posts!!

The Chair

Anyone up for a spooky story? ok well have you ever gone to a pawn shop or an antique store or flea market and one item catches your eye and you buy that item so you take it home and just admire your lovely new gift to yourself? nothing out of the ordinary right? well here's a little spooky story that happens just like this but the item in this case was a haunted chair??? hmmmm... strange... Careful Went, next flea market item you find might be full of surprises LOL! J.K. LOL! check it out!

What happens when your flea market find is haunted?

Do you believe in ghosts? I do now. In l995, I stopped in Charlotte, NC, at a flea market and meandered through the rows of buildings stuffed with every imaginable collectable and piece of furniture. The flea market had a fair- like atmosphere. People were eating hotdogs, cotton candy, and visiting with other collectors discussing the treasures they had found or were looking to find. I collect a variety of things such as keys and buttons and enjoy the hunt for my small treasures. I've never had much interest in large items, but as I rounded a corner "The Chair" caught my eye. It stuck out farther in the aisle than any other piece of furniture in this area. It seemed to have an in-your-face placement. Walking directly over to it, I ran my fingers over the grain of the wood. The grain was beautiful; its design elegant. My hand slid further over the bubbly spindles and smooth surface of the seat. The tag attached to the back indicated it was a 1800's Windsor side chair made of walnut. The price was $145.00. I pulled myself away and continued to browse through the buildings, but the chair nagged at my mind. Before finally leaving the flea market, I decided to return to see the chair once more, sure I had discovered a rare piece of furniture that could only increase in value. This chair was special.

Little did I know how special! After some discussion, the dealer came down on price to $120.00. I just couldn't believe I'd bought it and paid that much for a single wooden chair at a flea market. Unknowingly to me, when we arrived home my husband had placed the chair in the living room. I sat down on the couch and looked over for the first time at the chair in its new surroundings. It was even more beautiful than I'd first thought. Then, immediately a shiver went through my body and a feeling of uneasiness flooded over me. A feeling which I recognized as fear. It was as if an evil intruder were there watching me.

At 1:00 AM the following morning, I woke with a start, a dreaded feeling of impending danger making my heart race. Somehow I knew whatever was bothering me was related to that chair. I lay still -then suddenly my side of the bed slowly sank, as if someone were climbing into it. I forced myself to turned my face toward the edge of the bed. There in the moon lit room, a round bald head appeared at eye level. It was the size of a small skull. The skin on this thing was stretched so tight that the only distinguishable features were the small dark eyes and a mouth full of tiny white teeth. The face looked as if it had been burned. Then instantly, the grotesque figure disappeared. A paralyzing fear gripped me. As soon as I was able to move, I turned the light on, sat up in bed, and looked around the room. Nothing. It was gone. Everything appeared normal. I was gasping for breath, but didn't wake my husband because I didn't want to hear that I was just having a nightmare because I wasn't.

Three days passed and the feeling as if an intruder were in the house continued. The chair still sat in its place in the living room. I avoided that room, and wouldn't enter it unless it were daylight. I finally told my family about my fear of the chair and the events that had taken place. Perhaps because of the desperation in my voice and a history of being of sound mind they accepted my story as believable. To my surprise, no one laughed or teased me about being crazy. My kids advised, "Get rid of it no matter how pretty it is or how much it cost, Mom." Did I mention it cost $120.00? My husband, though perhaps a bit more skeptical than the children, came up with the idea of putting the chair in the bedroom and dealing with the problem. That's exactly what I wanted to hear, but apprehensively, I agreed. That evening, I was awakened again. The bed yielded to pressure from some invisible body. Someone had just gotten in the bed between my husband and I. I bolted to the floor and turned all the lights on. No one else was in the bed! Now my husband was getting a little concerned. He reassured me it was just a bad dream and I should go back to sleep. Sleep! For a long time, I sat in another chair beside the bed and stared at the spot where the thing had been lying. The next morning, as I was making the bed I saw the back of a transparent figure walk out of the bedroom, into the hall, and then thin into invisibility. This figure reminded me of President Truman. He was average height and seemed to me to be in his 60's. He wore a rimmed brown dress hat, and a brown leisure jacket. The clothes were 50's style. He didn't say anything and never turned around. The figure exuded a feeling of calm and didn't feel at all threatening. Still, I was determined to get rid of the chair.

One week later, I received a thank you note from Jack Allen and Scott, owners of Grant Antiques and Interiors of NC where I had purchased the chair. It stated: "I hope you are enjoying your Windsor chair. Thanks for your business and we hope to see you again". I bet you are! I thought, feeling they knew something about the chair because no one selling at a Flea Market sends you a thank you note for a purchase. So I wrote to them at the return address given and politely asked them for some history on the chair. My letter was returned as undeliverable. This event only added to my suspicions.

The following Saturday, I put the chair in a yard sale. Everyone was drawn to the chair, but no one bought it . While some customers were browsing around, I decided to sit down. Just as my bottom touched the chair it moved quickly to one side and left me sitting precariously on a small fraction of the seat. No one had noticed the movement of the chair, nor my apparent fear. This chair had to go! I thought of throwing it in the pond in our backyard, but then I was afraid it would be close enough to permanently haunt me. My daughter who lived in Ohio wanted the chair. She felt it would be fun and I could just bring it with me on my visit next week. There were two reasons I did not want her to have it: one, the chair was evil and two, I wasn't going to drive through the mountains with that chair in the back seat. So we decided my husband would take it to an antique shop and sell it on consignment while I was away. On Tuesday I was in southern Ohio and stayed with my daughter who lives in the country. Wednesday morning, when I left to visit my mother, it was pitch dark. For some obscure reason, a deep paralyzing fear gripped me as I stepped onto the porch. I was afraid to walk to the car. Pride wouldn't let me go back inside the house and my mother was waiting on me for morning coffee. It was with a deep feeling of dread, I forced myself to the car. This dread hovered over me in the car . It was the visual absence of danger that left my imagination unhampered. As I drove down the lane leading from the house, the dense woods on both sides of the road seemed to close in on me. I drove faster and turned the radio on for company. The feeling of fear was with me in the car. I had an eerie apprehension about what was happening. Then the announcer had barely started to speak when the voice on the radio became dual and sang in a low, slow garbled monotone manner. In my heart and soul, I felt I was in the presence of the ultimate evil. Reaching over, I turned the radio off and snapped the dome light on. The fear and presece I had felt in the car did not leave until I walked into my mother's apartment at 6:30 AM. At 7 AM The telephone rang. It was my husband calling. He sounded nervous when he said he was getting rid of the chair today. "What happened? " I asked. He told me he had felt what he thought was me getting out of bed. He looked toward the hall and saw a glowing, bright light and heard a male voice call my name. At noon, he took the chair to the Antiques Mall. As he was signing the final consignment papers, the dealer asked why we wanted to get rid of such a nice chair. He told the dealer the chair gave his wife nightmares and we would sell it for any amount of money. The dealer said this type of chair was usually hard to sell, but she would let us leave it in the store for awhile. When my husband returned home about an hour later, the phone was ringing. The antique dealer was excited. She said that a couple came into the shop just as my husband was leaving. They looked at the chair, browsed around and then came back to the chair. They admired the chair's design and liked the wood, but they were on vacation and had not planned on buying such a large item. The problem of transporting the chair was discussed, and finally they bought the chair and took it home with them to Alaska.

As soon as the chair left our home, the feeling that some evil intruder lived with us was also gone. I sometimes find myself wondering where the chair is and if the new owners are sleeping well.

I think I watch way to many spooky shows and movies so this one just topped it off. That night, I couldnt sleep and now I am scared to go to my bathroom at night ha ha ha ha ah!! anyway if you havent seen it ,check it out, here's the trailer. Enjoy!!

My favorite holiday!!

Hi everybody!! Ok so Halloween is just around the corner and yes it's my absolute favorite holiday of the year!! why? well I love spooky things and love creeping myself out every Halloween it seems I cant celebrate it because I am either at school or working. this year however, I've freed that day/night so i can go crazy and believe it or not, I have never been to the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival. I've driven through it many times on my way home from school or work but never had the chance to stay and enjoy. THIS YEAR HOWEVER, is different so I am gonna live it up!!!! anyway I a so excited and of course I'll be taking my trustee camera to record/take pictures of everything and anything to share with you all. What is your plan for Halloween if you celebrate it of course.

I was supposed to start updating the blog days ago but just as I got off the phone with Zie, I get packed with things I had to do first. I have to work today so will post when I get back... oh wait, I'll be out all night too. grrrrrrrrrr umm ok I promie I'll post as soon as i get a chance to. most likely on tuesday us time LOL cuz I'll be off from work so I am looking forward to that. thanx for coming everybody. BTW La Toya Jackson went to have dinner at my restaurant... I dont wanna judge and will not judge but she kinda looked like a stripper. Thank you Yingee for the news about wentworth being in toronto right now on the set of Resident Evil. According to Yingee, Wentworth will take on the lead role as Chris Redfield. Yes you heard it, LEAD ROLE ON RESIDENT EVIL. apparently Wentworth has been in toronto since around October 3rd and is apparently still there.

My new menu!!

Ok so some of the items on my new menu are a black and white chocolate mousse, L'ile flottant (French for floating island), Marbled brownie with french vanilla ice cream and toasted hazel nuts, spiced pumpkin souffle, strawberry and rhubarb cobbler, and plenty more that I cant remember right now LOL!!! anyway I only have a picture of three of them so here are the pictures of my black and white chocolate mousse, L'ile flottant, and spiced pumpkin souffle... I strayed away from my original idea of a very french dessert menu... I didnt want to do that but I did want ppl to have items that are more familiar to them. ok enough talk more show so here they are!! enjoy!!!

L'ile flottant kind of like a poached merengue on creme angaise but it's not really creme anglaise it's more of a vanilla sauce but not really.. LOL drizzled with caramel sauce and topped with toasted slivered almonds for a nice crunch. garnished with mint leaves.
