PB cast interviews!!
6 Baby names you probably shouldn't give your kid.
1. BATMAN
Venezuelans are among the world’s most creative namers. In fact, according to their own government, they’re too creative. In September 2007, after hearing about babies named Superman and Batman, state authorities urged parents to pick their names from an approved list of 100 common Spanish monikers. Those conventional names (such as Juanita and Miguel) quickly acquired a patrician ring, ironically giving rise to more novel names, like Hochiminh (after the Vietnamese guerilla) and Eisenhower (after the president). There are also at least 60 Venezuelans with the first name Hitler.
2. ECLIPSE GLASSES
In June 2001, a total solar eclipse was about to cross southern Africa. To prepare, the Zimbabwean and Zambian media began a massive astronomy education campaign focused on warning people not to stare at the Sun. Apparently, the campaign worked. The locals took a real liking to the vocabulary, and today, the birth registries are filled with names like Eclipse Glasses Banda, Totality Zhou, and Annular Mchombo.
3. NAAKTGEBOREN
When Napoleon seized the Netherlands in 1810, he demanded that all Dutchmen take last names, just as the French had done decades prior. Problem was, the Dutch had lived full and happy lives with single names, so they took absurd surnames in a show of spirited defiance. These included Naaktgeboren (born naked), Spring int Veld (jump in the field), and Piest (pisses). Unfortunately for their descendants, Napoleon’s last-name trend stuck, and all of these remain perfectly normal Dutch names today.
4. VLADIMIR ASHKENAZY
The people of Iceland take their names very seriously. The country permits no one—not even immigrants—to take or keep foreign surnames. So what happened when esteemed Russian maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy asked to become an Icelandic citizen? Well, the government finally decided to make an exception. Vladimir Ashkenazy is now on the short list of approved Icelandic names.
5. YAZID
Imam Husayn ibn Ali is one of the holiest figures in the Shi’ite Muslim faith. In the 7th century CE, he lost his head on the orders of the Sunni caliph, Yazid, and the decapitation initiated the biggest schism in Islamic history. While the name Yazid remains common among Sunnis, it is disdained throughout the Shi’a world. The stigma attached to it is equivalent to naming one’s son Stalin or Hitler. Speaking of which…
6. ADOLF
Memories of death camps and fascism have kept parents from christening their kids Adolf for quite some time. But one unlucky youngster acquired the name in 1949. He was the son of William Patrick Hitler—the dictator’s nephew, who moved to America in the 1930s to fight against his uncle. It isn’t clear why William preserved the name, but his four sons (including Alexander Adolf Hitler, now 57) made a pact to never have children in an effort to stunt der Fuehrer’s family tree at its branches.

Wentworth Miller is ESQUIRE Esquisite!!!
Wentworth - Miller: I spent 10 years in order to perform for a living
Miller was told that he has as many as 135 million fans in China, almost one-tenth of the Chinese population in China. Miller does not want to offend his fans but says that he finds his fans scream for the character he plays, they yell Michael or Scolfield. He denys having any similarities to his sexy and smart character Michael Scofield.(Which is kind of strange to me because I think i remember him saying that he does share some similarities with his character...I think he meant the smart & sexy qualities. Oh WENT!! HONEY, you are WAY TOO MODEST!! LOL)

Cosmo China Magazine translation
Wentworth Miller: Man We Love
Preface
Wentworth Miller: You got to run in the right direction
We should thank Chinese Brand Me & City. If Me & City hadn’t invited Wentworth Miller as their spokesperson, we wouldn’t have had such an opportunity to “scream” to him.Yes, wherever he is, right now he has one identity in the world: the handsome man in Prison Break, Michael Scofield. How long could a man take to pursuit his dream without giving up? How long could a man have to wait before question himself whether he made a wrong decision? Wentworth Miller spent almost 10 years to wait and to insist on what he wants. Just like his character, Michael Scofield, he believes in his objective and pursuit it without hesitation, without caring much about rules and conventions. He is smart and confident. In fact, it is not that difficult for a smart and handsome man to win the “scream” from women all around the world if he is given the opportunity to get his face out there. Whereas, this man was annealed by God for ten years, he knows which direction he’s going to run, if he wants.
Interview
Cosmo: Do you want to be a hero like Michael?
Miller: Michael has a heroic charisma. He is very brave and loyal. I admire these qualities that he has, and I want to have these qualities, but in the meantime, Michael is torn between a hero and a crazy. Along with the plot, his heroic quality is fuzzy. I think that is the exciting part about the show. Nobody is really good or bad. Everyone seems in-between. You can’t really tell his difference from other criminals now at this point. To be honest, I don’t want this fuzziness happened on me.
Cosmo: Can acting help you to find a new aspect about yourself?
Miller: yes, I have this sort of feeling. Being an actor is self-challenging, to act inappropriately. In real life, we all have self control, but it is safe in front of camera to cry, laugh, and do something extreme without holding back your emotion. Those things that you can’t express in your daily life can be let out in acting. Some actors may tell you that you must forget about yourself when you are acting, but for me, acting is about finding myself. You exhibit the one that you usually don’t want to exhibit or the one that is inhibited by the real life situation. I think the lesson I learn from being an actor is how a middle-class young man abandons middle-class stereotype mode of thinking and acting, because we have always been told what is appropriate and what is not in our life. I think all of us should have a chance to indulge for a while. Why don’t use this chance to make some money?
Cosmo: Do you feel be trapped for playing the same character for years?
Miller: This could be a challenge. has a great influence on me, because Sam Waterston is my model. He plays the same character very well over the years. What moves me most is he proves that a TV show can be also as extraordinary as a movie. Being a lead actor in a hit TV show could be my great opportunity as well as a trap.
Cosmo: In a real life, do you have any impulse to break out any convention?
Miller: In fact, we all live in a certain “prison”, or in other words, we are all trapped in a box, constrained by a certain social character. I followed the rules all along my way, finished up my education in Princeton. It is not that easy for me to do some extreme acting like some other actors. My acting experience grows along with Michael. At first, he was a hero only with a brain. But later on, he needs not only his brain, but also his muscle. This is a big challenge for me. I’m proud of my progress.
Cosmo: what’s the reaction of your family to your acting and being famous?
Miller: They are, of course, very exciting about it. My mom watches the show every week. She doesn’t like Michael or anybody else gets hurt. It will upset her, so I have to call her before the show every week to warn her in advance. Yes, I tell her everything.
Cosmo: Do you worry about the future? What if there is no character coming along as good as Michael after the show is over?
Miller: I don’t worry about tomorrow, and I don’t worry about next week. I don’t plan my career step by step because you don’t know what’s gonna happen tomorrow. It’s meaningless to worry about something you can’t predict and control. The only thing you can do is to focus on what you are doing right now and try you best to make it perfect.
Cosmo: Do you feel be tied up by the down-side of being a well-known star?
Miller: You are not grateful if you complain. I don’t complain any down-side of being a star. I also don’t think Michael is a sexy icon. He doesn’t need to be sexy, neither do I. I will eventually say goodbye to Prison Break, say goodbye to Michael. When the time comes, I don’t wanna be looked only as a handsome guy. I will reinvent myself and show other aspects and skills of mine, such as being a producer, being a director, being a writer… I cannot show all of these by playing this character.
Cosmo: Do you want to be a writer? People in the industry say that a good show must have a good script. Do you want to be the person who can control the quality of a show?
Miller: Yes, I do. I think the real person who can control a show’s quality is not the actor, not the writer, not the director, but the editor. When the show is on, you can really feel the power of editing. I also want to be sitting in the editing room and control which scene I want to put in at which point, where I want to insert music, and which scene I want to make it become panoramic. This is the way how you tell a story. I am very interested in this creative control.
Cosmo: I heard that you wrote a romantic script?
Miller: Yes, I did. It’s called Stoker. It is a salute to Bram Stoker, the writer of Dracula. It has a component from the mysterious story of Dracula. This is a sad love story. He is just like all of us to look for love across space. He is a monster, yet wishes his lover to love all of him. However, there is always this blonde hero who appears and puts a stick into his chest and terminates the love he pursuits. I think this is really sad.
Cosmo: Sometimes you have to pretend that you are a fashion icon. What’s your experience? (lol, good question. )
Miller: When I get up in the morning, I definitely won’t think about how I’m going to be fashionable today. I never thought about being a fashion icon. But I think everybody should have their own symbolic style: being able to pick up the one suitable for you from many jackets, or pick up a unique pair of sunglasses, a watch. Let them become part of you. I think in that way you will have you own unique fashion. I am willing to share my method with you—clever and affordable.Interview
Postscript (personally, I like this little piece of postscript very much. Went is such a sweetheart.)
Wentworth Miller showed up at the shooting point one hour earlier than the originally scheduled interview time, which made all staff hurry-scurry for a moment, because they were used to the lateness of other stars and didn’t expect this. When he wants to drink water, he will offer you one first. If there is only one bottle of water left, he definitely will let ladies have it. He ate the working package lunch with everybody else
[translator note: very simple working lunch, 8RMB (1USD) per box, usually has rice and two or three ordinary Chinese dish, not fancy at all] and said it’s delicious. He also thinks the mini Shanghai dumplings are amazing. When we shot on the boat in the Huangpu River, he wasn’t sure whether the people holding cameras on the bank were all his fans, but he kept waving his hands. He doesn’t want to disregard anyone. While shooting, he was slightly embarrassed and said: “I am not a model. I don’t know many poses.” The photographer didn’t mind it at all because every angle of his is just handsome and perfect.]

What happened to the message?
Spoilers: Is this French interview legit?
The_Man: i don't think there has been an official announcement about it, but from what i have heard there will be 22 episodes.
Jenzy: Thanks, The_Man, for the confirmation. Some articles are even saying that there might be a chance for a season five for PB, have you heard anything like that yet, The_Man?
The_Man: it's hard to say at this point. the ratings are doing okay to keep it on this season, but if the show goes on for another season it is likely the show would drop some viewers again and that might put it at a point where it could be in jeopardy. ending the show this season on a positive would be better than trying to force another season which could get cancelled and leave everything unresolved.
Jenzy: Looking at the other shows on other networks, it seems that the television viewing as a whole went down a lot this year perhaps as a result of the strike, though. NBC has a ton of shows that are getting 5-6 million viewers per episode, yet they picked them up for a full season. I heard recently that Life was picked up. Knight Rider was also picked up for a full season a while back. And those shows are getting an average of 5 million viewers. Even the shows on ABC, such as Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money are getting 5-6 million too.
A ton of shows are down by a lot this year.
I'm hoping that FOX would give PB a season five to at least finish up all the storylines. I don't think they could finish everything up by season four. Each episode is like a piece of a puzzle. And I'm truly enjoying season four thus far. It's like a new and fresh show. Everything is so exciting. So I'd like to see PB continue for as long as possible. I think there are still a ton of storylines left to tell in season five. And the show can remain fresh and unique.
FOX produces PB, right? I've heard it's also not that expensive to make episodes of PB. A ton of other shows are a lot more expensive. Plus, PB is a huge hit in the other countries. The DVDs are selling extremely well.
By the way, I've heard that PB will be filming till February. So that means that FOX probably has to make a decision soon about season five, right? So the writers know what is going on? However, my main issue is that I think PB can do a LOT better in ratings when it comes back from its usual hiatus. If FOX gives it a good lead in, then I think PB's ratings could increase. I just don't think SCC helps PB at all as the lead in. Now, I'm kind of hoping that FOX would wait with their decision till the other 9 episodes air after the hiatus. Then, again, I don't know how that will work since filming will end before the show will come back. What do you think? Will FOX wait till May to decide on season five? Or more likely in December? I think the cast might be able to film two alternative endings just in case.
The_Man: It is true that most shows are down in viewers this year and it has a lot to do with the strike. Prison Breaks ratings are okay for this season, but since they are dropping about 2 million viewers a year, to add a 5th season and then only have the show get about 4 million viewers seems to indicate the show would face cancellation before it had a chance to finish off that season. It seems like it would be better off to be able to finish the series and tie up all loose ends and answer any questions, then to have the show suddenly pulled and having the fans get no resolution.
Yes Fox does produce PB, and it isn't as expensive as some other shows to film, but it is not cheap either. Especially with a larger cast...which is getting smaller. Even though PB is a big hit in other countries and the DVD's sell well, that money doesn't always go back to the production costs to make the show. There are many different division in FOX. The TV show on being shown is part of Television Distribution, but when it is released on DVD it is part of Home Entertainment.
Even if Prison Break films until Feb, and then the decision is made to go back and renew or not renew the show, There will be enough time to go back to do reshoots if they need to change some things. Filming two different versions is also a possibility. Right now though, it is still up in the air although there has been discussion of adding 2 more episodes for this season, but that is just the Producers saying they want to make them, it doesn't mean that they will air. But it is still to early to tell.
Insanity: when will we see LJ and Sophia again this season?
The_Man: i'm actually not sure about when they will reappear, however if this does end up being the last season, i'm sure they will turn up near the end.
Cybuch7: Will see Nika Volek in this season ? Will see Henry Pope in this season ? Sory for my bad English
The_Man: i highly doubt you will see either of them
kir20: The man (or anyone else who knows), what episode is filming right now and when do the cast and crew go in hiatus?
The_Man: i think they are on ep 16 right now. i'm not sure when they are taking a break. i think they may take some time off for the holidays and then film through February.
kir20: The man, another question. do the contracts for all the actors end in may or june 09? just curious as to weather or not they end at that point.
The_Man: that is an interesting question. several of the main cast had 7 year contracts...dom, went. amaury, rob. so they would be locked into the show unless their character is written out of the show. fichtner is year to year so after this season he could leave. i think swc was just renewed for this season....not really sure about the others.
DaDave: Will wee see or will we know what it means with 10.000 People, Laos and the Company?
The_Man: i actually do not remember what happens with this.
kir20: The man, one more question but do you know weather the recent French interview with Wentworth Miller was true or not? apparently he said this is definitely the final season and even if there was another one he wouldn't want to be a part of it. not sure if its completely fake or not.
The_Man: i have no idea if the interview is real or fake
Jenzy: The_Man, I recently read that two more episodes have officially been ordered for PB this season, making it a 24 episodes season 4. So does that mean that this is the last season of PB? The articles all say that it is the reasoning behind adding two additional hours. I'm just wondering if you know anything about it.
The_Man: i'm not sure if it was offically announced if there were going to be 2 more episodes, but that is what they are thinking about doing. and it would most likely be used to end the series. whether or not they will actually do the extra 2 episodes i'm not sure yet, but either way it seems like this will be the last season.

Season 4 is really the last season of Prison Break?
According Wentworth Miller, the PRISON BREAK series will end! The star revealed the news to our correspondent in the United States during an interview on Monday in Los Angeles.
Question: There is a rumor that the series will end because of two episodes that have been added to the season. Is this something that you can confirm? Is this the last season? Wentworth Miller: We have no official decision. But all those working on the series know that it's over. That's it. I think that all those involved in the daily production understand that it is time to stop and leave on a positive note. If ever there was a fifth season, so it .. (according to the interviewer he made the gesture of money with the hand - ie). Can you talk with other actors? Because it concerns their job, their work ... WM: Yes ... But as regards (it's repeated the gesture of money with the hand - ie), you know, this is a successful series. This is very lucrative. So there are some people, some makers, who do not necessarily [hope it] ends. I think I withdrew everything I could from this experience and I am ready to go. So the series will stop at the end of the season. That is what is being said? WM: That's what I hope ... That's what I hope ... the announcement of two special episodes could serve as a conclusion to the series. François Jadoulle with Canal Plus | ||
