This week we'll work on the "seated twist". This exercise is simply to do. First sit on the floor, feet flat & about 12-15 inches apart, legs bent 90 degrees & back straight, leaning toward the floor (like when you're coming up from a sit-up). Take a medicine ball, holding it close to your chest & twist right, placing the ball on the floor behind you. Return to the center position & then twist left, placing the ball on the floor behind you. 16 reps is recommended for intermediate! Always remember to consult a physician before beginning any exercise regimen!
This week's healthy tip: keep the stress level to a minimum! Stress is one of the main reasons why eating right & exercising is not going to work as well as they could if you had little to no stress in your life. Take time away from what causes you stress. More than likely it's work, the family, etc. & these are things that we can't always just "get away" from, but you can find ways to make time for yourself while you do your job & take care of your family!
- Try walking on your lunch break with your iPod full of your favorite music!
- Read a good book!
- Soak in a tub full of luxurious bubbles a few nights a week! Don't just get in & get out either! Sit there for awhile, a longer while than your usual bath!
- If all else fails, find a quiet area (even if you have to leave work/home) and just sit and bask in the peacefulness. You can even try a little breathing exercise. Simply close your eyes, inhale, taking a really deep breath then let it out slowly. Repeat as many times as necessary to clear your mind! Trust me, you'll be glad you did!
