Poor Kid

Not sure how many of you guys & gals are NBA or any kind of basketball fans, but I LOVE the Los Angeles Lakers! As I was logging into my email account, I happened upon a story about a 7 year old little girl reacting over NBA trades that took place on yesterday. Much to my surprise,my beloved Derek Fisher has been ousted to the Houston Rockets... I know right! BUMMER! To my delight, however, Pau Gasol & Andrew are safe from the chopping block AND... drum roll please!!!!! LUKE WALTON IS GONE!!!! Now, no offense, Luke, but I was beginning to think the guy was paying somebody to remain a part of the team! Hope he finds happiness wherever he goes - yeah, I don't even care where it is lol!

Anyhoot, back to the sweet kid...

So someone, her mom I'm guessing, is videoing while she's telling her about the new trades with the Lakers & Blazers teams. The little one shows the same reactions I do about the Laker trades - smart kid lol! Now when it gets time for "mom" to tell her about the Blazers... well, words simply can't describe it! You've GOTTA just see it!

Poor baby! I just wanna hug her & let her know it's gonna be ok!

Lakers & Michael Jackson have something in common!

For those of you guys who aren't Laker fans or don't keep up with the news, we have now acquired NBA bad boy Ron Artest. Ron Artest will be a forward in the upcoming 09-10 season with the LA Lakers. He has chosen #37 to wear on his jersey in honor of Michael Jackson! Michael's original Thriller LP stayed at No. 1 on the charts (it was actually on the charts a total of 56 weeks... that's more than a YEAR - someone correct me if I'm wrong). Here's what Ron had to say:

"I was trying to figure out a number, I was talking to my wife and kids," Artest said during the press conference. "I was on my Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook and asking everybody to help me pick a number. On my MySpace, somebody named Trish The Dish came up with the #37 and said that Michael Jackson's Thriller was 37 weeks at number one of all-time. 23, I was going to choose. It was available. It's a great number but, I thought [with] that 37 and Thriller, I can make that a new great number. I think more kids should start getting the #37 for a great human being, since Michael loved all people. I think I'm representing greatness in wearing #37." Ron also recorded a song called "Michael, Michael" in honor of Michael.

The Sunday after Michael's death, three of his albums were in the top three spots (422,000 in the U.S., up from 10,000 a week earlier) and 2.3 million tracks have been downloaded in the United States alone! The week's tally was greater than all the Jackson albums sold from the start of the year to June 21.

MY Los Angeles Lakers: 2009 NBA Champs

The Los Angeles Lakers are the 2009 NBA Champions! It was an amazing run & I can admit that there were games in this series & the last when I was almost too angry to watch games. I say that b/c the Lakers sometimes play like teams have to bow down to them & that's just not the case. Other teams are hungry for the championship & "we" can be so lazy & it shows on the floor. I was so aggravated with the guys during the Denver series that I didn't think "we" could do this. I was disappointed, feeling like "we" were DONE & then all of a sudden, MY Lakers showed up in game 5 against Denver & NOW, "we" are the champs! I'm proud of my guys & I'm so happy to be a Laker fan. I'm glad I don't give up on my guys! It's like an up-and-down marriage: your spouse promises to do better & get it together, to make it work AND does for awhile then something comes up & your spouse does something to let you down again. You stick with him b/c you know "there's good in him" & you love him so much & you know sooner or later he will be the man you fell in love with! That's me & the Laker team - love 'em but they let me down so much then there are times like these last few games & then again tonight that make it ALL SO WORTH IT! Tonight makes it all better - sweetest love making in 7 years! You've made me proud! Love you guys!
