My mom makes the BEST champurrado on the face of this earth!!!!! Champurrado is a Mexican chocolate based hot drink. It contains pilonsillo, mexican chocolate, orange peel, cinnamon, and cloves, masa ... a lot of patience and BAMN!! we have champurrado!! made with water or milk or a bit of both. my mommy makes the BEST!! takes about an hour and a half to cook. this drink is popular during the winter holidays specifically christmas and during el dia de los muertos... the day of the dead but can be made for special occasions as well, some people will have it after church in the evenings as an afternoon snack or in the morning as a simple breakfast. For this occasion, my mom and I made it for our family and friends gathering for when we were done praying in my father's memory. On August 15th marked, 1 year of his passing and so we made tamales and champurrado for our guests to enjoy after the prayer. The picture below is a the pot of champurrado, with cinnamon stick and orange peel. mmmmmm sooooo good!
